That bolt you struggled with on the new oil pump I couldn’t get it started. Dropped it in the oil pan 3 times and got it out with some magnets, after 3 hours I said f*** it and tightened the other bolt. I’ll let you know how she does

I had to put a piece of tape on an over sized box end wrench wrap a piece of thread around that pickup tube bolt get it in the hole and give the thread a pull and damn after a couple attempts it threaded in almost all the way….

Question, well rlly a statement but can you put the est of parts on jobs at the end of the vid or maybe at the beginning? Ik u do sometimes when they're major parts. Also are all of these parts needed for a timing chain replacement I’m pretty sure it’s just the chain that is worn and my Sisters Accord just hit 205k miles with no light you can just audibly hear it on cold start up and sometimes when up to temp too (after starting only) (We are only taking it to Honda for work fs just to be safe too big of a job)
Except for the scary keeper adventure, the installation of the followers in high speed was great with the music. I like your choice of music. I found this video very informative. I've never worked on a Ford like this one. You know what they say, the day you stop learning is the day you die. And I'm not ready to die yet. 🙂
Oh, why is it necessary to R&R the followers? I'm sorry if I missed that explanation. I can see where it could be a maintenance item, but is it necessary in the replacement of the timing components? Just a GM guy trying to understand the other worlds of vehicles. 😉
I think I would weld a 5/8 nut on the knob of that cam follower tool and use a ratchet.

I'm assuming it's less expensive to partially rebuild this motor rather than R&R?
Concerning the keepers, my dad always put grease on them to keep them in place when he was working on valves.

Hi Ray, just a question: why did you not remove the camshafts in order to make it easier to remove and install the cam followers? Just curious.
Great job with the repair of the engine, looked like it was a pain in the ass job to do. Myself i work on gasturbine engine and they can be a pain to work on too.

Why didn't the owner install the new high pressure oil pump from melling, you don't replace all these parts without changing the oil pump.
Looks like you have all of the upgraded parts so desperately needed for this POS. Upgraded tensioner gasket, smaller holes in rockers (not shown), high volume oil pump. Might not be a POS with new parts. Still vulnerable during startup I suppose.
12:15 Your mission – should you choose to accept it – is to install the bolt for the pump.
