  1. In addition to all the other tips, I would add putting rubber tubing or tape on the jaws of your wire holders (third hand). The teeth have a nasty habit of piercing the wire when you least want it, usually due to the insulation being soft and warm from a prolonged soldier job.

  2. Nice work and upgrade with the extensions for both ground and positive leads as well as the bolt on connection good thing about using bolts and eyelets is if they Clamps fail just drill hole in new Clamps and connect easy fast Repairs from here on out @Rainman Ray's Repairs

  3. Great video Ray you gave me some great ideas but I’ve always wondered don’t you think the torch would be better to heat up the connection and after he gets there you can apply the Sauter fast without having to wait for a soldering gun to heat up what do you think? God bless you please tell me what kind of hand soap you like I have a chemical company I won’t bother you no more after this one ? ✝️✝️✝️

  4. I’ve done electronic assembly off and on since the seventies, for about 7 years in there I was QC. Even with those qualifications I know nothing at all about soldering. My last soldering job my eldest son outstripped me big time, the boss wanted me to learn the basics again, the book he gave me was about 2” thick, fine print, and totally new jargon. Until you’ve done space rated soldering you haven’t begun to learn the craft. One suggestion for Ray would be to put the soldering iron under the work and feed the solder in from the top. Heat rises.

  5. Something I learnt on a course last week.
Solder should flow at a temperature 150°c lower than the solder iron.
The Milwaukee irons run at about 400°c there for the solder should be a 250°c spec.
Most lead free solder is 270°c spec.
For awesome soldering using a battery iron, seek out some silver content solder. It melts at 230°c so flows really well and gives a better joint, and is much easier. 👌

  6. In this throw away, just renew it, don't be an engineer age it's good to see people who still repair, modify or adapt their tools to be what they want them to be. I have a second really good battery charger / conditioner that I repaired the leads on after my son just threw it away because the leads snapped off of the terminal strip inside. It works perfectly
