Come along with Eric O. at the SMA shop as we have a look at this Honda CRV that has the ABS and VSA Light on. We quickly find out it has a code 66-01 stored in it indicating a “Pressure Sensor Malfunction.” Unfortunately we also find out the entire ABS module has to be replaced to fix it! We also learn a valuable lesson in scan tool data how it can lead you astray. -Enjoy!

  1. I have an 2006 crv. The yaw and brake sensor codes are bad according to AutoZone . My question is before I take it to Honda for repair could it be something else throwing this code? Of course I'm cautious and want it repaired correctly.
Btw I also had bad brakes situation which presented unusual squealing while driving and braking and in reveres. Got them fixed and rotors. I just sense that the back brakes have a slight metal sound. Can't explain noise.

  2. F me, I came to the pros for diagnoses and I got the parts canon treatment. One can live on hopes and dreams but not on high expectations. Entertainment value was decent though. POS cars, chinesium fantasticum, planned obsolescence parts, domestics, poodle drama. Quite the buffet going on in this one. 😄

  3. I checked with Honda and they told me that i never flushed my brake fluid which caused blockage or valve malfunction. Regular 40k maintenance is required to avoid expensive repair – ABS module

    Saludos!

  5. Afterthought – Towards end you went through a recalibration procedure so I’m assuming Honda Dealership “is not” the only shop/mechanic that can perform such. Shame on them for leading a senior citizen down a wobbly path. One can only assume they don’t want to lose out on a major repair expense per their costs to an independent shop which might be more affordable.

  6. Just happened upon your video as my 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L with low mileage, approx 62,350, also has ABS, VSA, Triangle & Brake Light warning icons on dash. Every couple of days the lights go off for several days only to return and repeat pattern. Honda Dealership says I need to replace ABS Module due to failure code 81.1 or was it 84.1. Unfortunately it’s on back order. Per research this part should last the lifetime of vehicle however Honda has had numerous vehicles with such issue. Appears Honda’s lacking responsibility for not having issued a technical service recall bulletin avoiding replacing free of charge to it’s valued customers. Furthermore their irresponsibility of not stocking all years for easy replacement knowing this has been an ongoing issue is another downfall towards Honda’s quality.
Curious if your scan tool was able to synchronize used ABS Module to current vehicle vin# as that’s what I was told by Honda if used part was found by another mechanic? 🚙

  7. With " NO " disrespect to America I personally feel that considering you are working a Japanese designed vehicle and everything of it is in metric and cars built in America are metric now, perhaps it is time America changed to the metric system. Your currency has been metric from your war for independence and America is ONE of ONLY TWO countries of the world still using the imperial system. Perhaps in time things will change.

  8. I’m having the same problem with my Honda Civic but no one around me will install used parts and being disabled and on a fixed income wish I lived closer to you SMA I’m in Syracuse NY not that far from your shop but to far to have it towed.

  9. I watch you video Thank you . I have Question when i aplay the brake pedal
It goes all the way in . I couldn't stop the car by touch the brake padal what is the reason this please tell me Thx.

  10. I'm having a similar problem with my CRV, is there a slightly cheaper OBD scanner you can use to do the sensor adjustment since $1200 for a scanner is a bit much for something I might not use a lot like $200 range

  11. Strange my autel won’t let me do a steering angle/neutral position memorize re learn. Brakes holding pressure on rotors after 15 mins of run time.
I’m shooting toward VSA-ABS module causing the issue.

  12. 2014 Honda Odyssey VSA/Brake light on intermittently? OK this is crazy, it comes on both lights and then will go off SOMETIMES when to stop some place and go again. Then some times it will stay off for a day or week or 5 minutes! This has been going on now for three years! What in the world is causing this? Fluid, brakes as is good here. Disconnect battery left over night clears up may last a week or 5 minutes. Just a real pain in the butt. Suggestions short of selling it? Thanks what should I try or look for now?

  13. Mine had the red brake light on as well, mechanic got rid of the light but still has vsa, abs so it must be abs pressure sensor? I've seen that the only people who rebuild these are in England!!??

  14. Hey brother been watching your program for about a year learned a lot of interesting things please keep up the good work now I’ve hit a problem with my breaks on 2008 Honda Pilot they keep locking up getting a code 68 I threw the parts cannon at the problem changed the booster 3 changed master cylinder 2 twice all calipers replaced as well as all break hoses front and back inner putter on rear check valve hose to booster replaced changed break switch for my code 68 still locking up when I drive it for about 10 minutes if let it sit it will return to normal got frustrated sent it over to Honda they wanted to throw another parts cannon at the problem which I refused of course but they couldn’t figure it out I did have it driving for about 1k miles with the 3 booster from the bone yard but the problem happened again any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks
