  1. Eric, your videos need to be in automotive schools. Rookie mechanics would learn more from ONE of your videos, than they will all year. It's mechanics like you that give us hope for the trade. We're all HUMAN. Everyone gets beat up once in awhile, and that's a part of nature. Keep doing what you do, we all appreciate you!

  2. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You are constantly thinking, I’d rather pay for that than pay for a parts cannon.
    In my former line of work us techs had each others phone numbers, even though we worked for different companies.
    We helped each other

  3. Great job 👍. I wouldn't say it was totally luck. You were still running scenarios through your melon. As my dad would say use your melon or don't let a piece of steel out smart you 😅.
    SMA if you want to call it lucky well the quality work you do and some luck thrown your way I'd call that a Ally.

  6. If you ask me, only a Super Tech would have kept working the problem as you did, eventually figuring it out. Most would have thrown a new ECM at it right off yet you had that gut feeling that the ECM wasn't the issue and kept after it, working the issue until you found the problem. I'm constantly impressed not only with what you already know and do but by the fact that you are continually pushing yourself to learn more and to improve your diagnostic skills. Anyone can be a parts jockey and load the parts cannon up, I've seen very few who are truly good at diagnosing and are what I'd consider not just a mechanic but a skilled automotive technician/diagnostician. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, skills and process with us so that we can continue improving our own abilities.

  7. Brilliant work! This has me asking the question "is there any technical reference that would tell a mechanic what electrical activities happen at 3,000 rpm (and at other rpm)?" Otherwise even a very talented mechanic might never solve this.

  9. I saw someone who is a skilled troubleshooter. I use the same methods for troubleshooting computer issues. The process is similar when troubleshooting anything. Duplicate the problem, gather the data, and come to a conclusion based on the facts and your experience.What makes you a good troubleshooter? Once you find something that doesn't support your conclusion, you do not give up. You said you got lucky, and that maybe be true, but you would have found the issue at some point because you did not give up. The mark of a good troubleshooter is not someone who is right 100% of the time but someone who doesn't give up when something unknown comes along. Someone who listens to the voice telling you, "that's just not right."That is why people love to watch your videos. You show you are human, perfectly inperfict.

  10. I like the way you think and work. Thinking things through…. I was watching a vid by Diganose Dan, A high priced German auto. "M" Many hours be other shops failed to fix it. It took some time for him to fond the trouble. (crank no start. It was in the viberation damper that alignes the timeing mark. Fromt the factory in damper that had peen pu to this was 40+_ off TDC. A few days ago I watched your vid, on vibe. damper replacment… Nice work. Thanks for the entertainment and knoweledg shareing.. Al

  12. I suspect 99% of techs would have loaded the parts cannon then give up, leaving the customer with a huge bill and no repair. As you know it happens all the time. Unfortunately, you are the exception. Outstanding job on this repair and video!
