ABS, Airbag, TPMS Warning ON! (Safety System REPAIR) #mechanic

This chevy Malibu came in with very high mileage and several problems. There were several warning lights on and multiple systems were found to be faulty. The anti lock brake systems was found to be faulty due to a rusted and damaged wheel bearing. The wheel speed sensor was unable to detect the tire speed due to a faulty pickup magnet within tone ring. A quick wheel bearing change solved the ABS communication problem. Further inspection found that there were several Airbag system faults and a RECALL was also uncovered. The TPMS light was on due to a faulty sensor in the tires. A tire removal and sensor replacement and reprogram turned of the TPMS warning light and the system began operating as designed. Unfortunately the recall must be performed at the dealer and we were not able to complete all repairs.

  1. OK, you probably won't see this as the video is 7 months old at this time.

I, like you, am a guy (matter of fact I'll include that my chromosomes are XY and my pronouns are "are you a freaking insane idiot?). We don't generally ask for directions when we have no idea where we are and we generally don't read directions.

I am a diy and have more tools that are way over my head than my meager income should allow. I rely on you, South Main and Kenny to teach me.

I have one of those Autel TPMS tools exactly like yours, but because i had absolutely no idea what i was doing about 6 months ago, i broke down – please keep it a secret – and read the directions.

In the video you went through the procedure at least two times more than you had to due to not having read the instructions, even allowing for that finicky left rear, and when used correctly there was absolutely no need to use your shop's orange tool!

I feel guilty writing this as you are perhaps my favorite channel; i simply could not just sit by and let the tool's reputation suffer due to user unfamiliarity-

Thank you for all you do, and the realistic sound effects which you provide (such as powering on and the like). And give Lauren more air time, she's cute- (but then i also think the shop dog and puppies you had on also are).

  2. I'd like to see you do a front wheel bearing on a 2003 Ford Taurus from Michigan. LOL I had to cut mine in half with my Dremel tool. Cast iron bearing on an aluminum knuckle, and Michigan road salt left it so seized that a slide hammer just ripped the guts out of the middle. Took me like 20 hours over a period of 3 days.

  3. Surprised you could have recommended a new set of tires/alignment…
also can these areas of wheel sensors affect
    driving mode complaints?
…(Awesome video…we nit sure we have any indepwndant shop so well equipped as yours is now…and my hubby been in automotive since 1970…and one of those shops is owned by a fellow '72 classmate of mine…

Our gratitude is beyond words for all the tips, staff helps, and demos how tooz…oodle-le-oozdle-doos!!
Especially w/all the bad weather coming to FLA🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
    for you all!!

    God Bless you Bro.Ray🙌

  4. Imo the erratic speed sensor signal was causing the hesitation. The computer can't differentiate between an erratic signal and spinning tires as easily at low speeds as it can at high speeds, so it's possible the traction control was limiting engine power at low speeds. If the old oil was causing a VVT problem, I would expect to see a code from the P0011 family or P0016 family if the phasers were sticking. I cannot say for certain as someone could have been clearing the codes with a $20 engine light scanner, which only clears the engine module.
