I thought I was getting a great deal on an OE Quality Timing Chain kit from an American Company. It turns out not a single part of the kit was made in the USA. But is anything made in the USA anymore… Wait til you see how this kit failed, and how it cost me a few days time plus several hundred dollars to make it right!

  1. Garbage American car companies. Ford is the same. All 3 of them WOULD NEVER BUY. All three ford, gm, dodge GARBAGE unreliability to the max. Parts made in china, how pathetic is that.

  2. I traded in a V2 CTS-V for a VSport in 2017 and kept it until it was stolen from the main airport in Houston two years ago. Six months before it was stolen it had the timing chain replaced under Cadillac Platinum extended warranty so it only cost me my $100.00 deducible. It was for sure a sleeper but had its share of other problems one of which I can plainly see in your final drive at the end of this video. This last run of CTS's have a terrible flaw in the sunroof shade which after time always fail and rip away from the tract and end up bunching up as yours appears to be. It is something not covered by extended warranties, including Cadillac factory ones and cost over $1200.00 for a dealer to do it. I did it myself with my younger brother when it happened and it took an entire Sunday to replace as the entire headliner has to be dropped to replace.

  3. I had a similar experience with a Chevy Ecotec. We bought a $40-$50 Moca timing kit. Engine ran great at first, but very shortly after it started loosing power and then I could hear the timing chain clattering around. Took it apart to find out the chain was very loose because the tensioner had failed. So I ordered a Cloyes tensioner and I have not had any issues since! Chain is still tight! To be honest the guides and chain actually seem to be decent quality overall, but the tensioner looked like it was made by a different manufacturer and just thrown in the box with it. So far the car is doing wonderful on the cheap timing kit, but I think I will probably pick up a AC-Delco kit from the dealership in the near future

  4. These V-Sport Cadillacs are the perfect daily driver in my opinion. They are comfortable for daily use and fast enough to be very entertaining! Thank you for making this video and fully diagnosing the issue!

  5. Hiya, it makes no sense because the chain has nothing to do with the dots on the engine. If you were at TDC on the piston the dots on the crank and engine would line up. THERE IS no mark on the chain that you show in the video. I don't get your point?
