1. At 13:00 you use a few tools to release the wiring and connectors. 1 was something for prying and the other was a pair of pliers that squeezed the tabs on a connector. Could you tell us what those were?

5. I do have a Subaru Forester 2011 2.5 and just another day I see oil in the coolant tank. What happened?

6. I had my timing cover, rear main seal, valve cover and oil cooler resealed on my 2005 Outback 3.0 with 230K miles. Totally worth it.

7. Just the right combination of crazy enuf to do it and optimistic, comical and the video point of view is excellent. Still hoping my 2011 Forester XT just has leaking VC gaskets. 'We'll' see! PS- Being much braver than I am, 'Here, YOU go first', lol! Thought crank end was the problem, but I never gloat…🤗

9. I'd recommend not using the air ratchet as a breaker bar, but breaking the bolts loose first with a ratchet and then zipping them out with the air ratchet

10. Blocked PCV valve = oil leaks on scoobys.

12. I hope this helps you with Subie FA, FB engines. It is better off hoisting the engines out, there are five pry points on the timing covers and any bending or gauges you might have to buy a new cover or it will leak again. When cover is re-sealed, you want to put it straight on which also need the clearance from the engine out of the engine bay.

13. When a hood strut was worn out, we always just clamped some vice grips on it so there wouldn't be a hood prop in the way… Just a thought…

14. 7 hours labor x $135/hr? So, approximately $1,000 just in labor? For timing cover gasket replacement. 🤯😲😱

17. When one side is leaking, the rest are not far behind. Do ‘em all at the same time to save money, time, irritation. I do. I like Subaru. Had many over time. To do it once, yank that motor out for ease of access.

18. 90K and it's leaking like a sieve. Next will be a CV trannie if it's unlucky enough to have one. No wonder they struggle to sell these things.

22. Why don't you get Dave or one of your guys to help you when you do something like that? You would have 2 or 3 prying it loose instead of taking a chance on breaking it.

24. 13mm bolt ??? they should be 10,12,14,17,19 on all bolts on a subaru nowhere should there be a 13

25. Hey Ray, be careful there is a tsb on the cam cradles for an oil leak. The timing cover may only be part of the leak you’re fixing. Not 100% sure it’s the year you’re working on but worth checking.

28. During this video, I must admit that I was nervous about one of the fasteners would snap in half . I remember that water pump repair that went sideways on Ray. Nice job Ray!😁👍
