  1. Comment your "starter stories" here. I know some Audi's need the engine lifted to get to the starter and the Cadillac NorthStar engine has the starter under the intake manifold! What a bad design!

  2. It is hard to understand why car makers still sell cars costing $50.000 and more without a simple built-in battery wear tester. Directly behind empty fuel tank the most common reason for cars breaking down and needing help of the road is bad batteries (discharged or simply old and worn out). Such a tester would cost a couple of cents or maybe a $1 if mass purchased by an OEM. And today with computers in all cars they could easily give a battery health history / indicator. This is available in every $100 smart phone. I guess car makers still want to push you into expensive maintenance… Not a customer friendly attitude.

  3. What does it mean when you turn the key switch, it makes like a metal rubbing noise and then it starts this happens once starting the car and also when the cars been running

  4. ALWAYS ENJOY CHRIS WORK ON CARS. HE MAKES IT SO EASY….TODAY MY 2012 SRX GAVE ME THE FIRST HEADZ UP, THAT A NEW STATRTER MIGHT BE NEEDED THE CAR DIDN'T START. THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR A FEW THINGS LATELY. A NEW BATTERY, A NEW FRONT FUEL PUMP, (INSTALLED BY "YPUR MECHANIC.COM), AND A BRAND NEW ALTERNATOR. SO I KNOW THAT STRTER IS GOING TO GO SOON. WELL, TODAY I LEARN TO CHECK THE RELAYS, FIRST. HAVING THE RIGHT TOOLS MAKES THE JOB A LOT EASIER. THANK YOU.

  5. Hey Chris fix after watching many of your videos I think I’m ready to become a mechanic because ived fixed many cars with no training and people are quite impressed of my work they ask me a lot of questions and say I’m a good mechanic I say no I’m not a mechanic I just watch Chris fix videos on YouTube. And they are shocked…..truly mind blowing what YouTube brings. Thanks you again Chris you are really helpful

  6. Why do I bother going to another channel? I’m sure there are other good channels out there but there’s also a ton of bad ones. ChrisFix is perfect. Find what you need fast and you can tell it’s exactly what you were looking for. The best is that he talks about diagnosis before the fix. So grateful.

Update: We ran through our tests today and finally ended up hammering the starter (just to get me home) and it worked. Now that my truck is home I'm looking forward to removing the starter. I'll keep you posted.

  7. 84 Mustang 302. Starter field. You have to use an air ratchet on the top bolt.
I used about five starters from O'Reilly's. Worked at First. And then they filled. In the weirdest places. So I bought the top-of-the-line starter from O'Reilly's and never had any more problem with it. You actually get what you pay for.

  8. I had to pause the video and check the upload date, because i honestly thought the "hitting the starter with a hammer" was an Aprill's Fools joke.
