I have an 01 f150 that needs a new rear end. How would you feel about rebuilding it for me? Lol
Note to anyone watching this and doing this job. Those bolts for the ring gear are torque-to-yield; they are very small bolts with a minimal thread. Therefore, they are one-time use and not to be reused. The ring gear surface needs to be cleaned thoroughly, and Loc Tite 680 needs to be applied to the ring gear surface where it meets the carrier. The amount of acceptable runout on that ring gear is minimal; therefore, assembling the ring gear to the carrier and drawing it tight by tightening the bolts is not an ideal practice. If you have an oven and 20 minutes, set the oven to 200 degrees, place the ring gear into the oven for 20 minutes, and it will easily slide onto the carrer assembly.
Ray you are a very professional mechanic I know you have worked in dealerships like I have I've been at Mercedes-Benz for 23 years I would quit in a second to work for you
Do you need friction modifier for the limited-slip clutches & if so, does the Amsoil you used contain it??
Looks like a great pattern, you are lucky with rear ends, mine always fought!!
Looks like a open diff to me….🤔
Not dissing, I’m no Dr but I usually somewhat hand tighten diff cover and let sit for 30 minutes or whatever the brand recommends before torquing down, as well as waiting to fill until gasket is cured enough 🤷🏻♂️ I’m sure it isn’t a super difference but since trucks sat long enough as is 🤷🏻♂️
What are the 4 notches for
ALSO, PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE NAYSAYERS — WHAT DO THEY KNOW?? NOTHING!!😂
"… LEARNED A LOT"
That pinion can’t be adjusted.
3:25 before anything happens.
New rear end success!
Wondering why you press bearings ;W/O using a film of lube? A skin of LUCASOIL TREATMENT; does a fine job of making the press ;less friction heavy.
Very GOOD !
Maybe if you had an actual parts washer you wouldnt always run out of brake clean?
Why the hell didnt you clean the tone ring?
The total repair cost on this truck has to be close to its value.
Instead of listening to random youtube "experts", what do the engineers who designed the bearings and rear end say to do with grease vs oil?
Man he makes these things look so eazy lol it makes me feel I can go tare mine apart n assemble in minutes lol knowing that's totally not realistic for me lol
A little late to the party, torque limiting extensions are meant for pneumatic impact wrenches and only for one hit of the anvil the final torque has to be done with a wrench. Electric impact wrenches have a different hammer/anvil construction and don't work with them.
no lube all dry.
I have a 2012 f150.. I think all the parts in the rear end are made from China.. everything is over 1,000 /over size.. and they slam them together in the factory… Now if you ever have to change the axle bearings or the pinion bearings.. it's going to be a living hell for you.. this was once a simple job.. but not when they slam the parts together at the factory.. they're almost welded together at that point.. never buy a f**** Ford
Thank you ray for showing us the start to finish of this truck project. I enjoy watching your videos from customer complaint to customer satisfied 🤗
That was a lot of work and parts ! Was the truck worth all that ? labor + parts truck worth = wast of time and money !
I watched the whole three parts now, but two months??? Did you make it pay rent????
Keep your hand out of the way. Just show what you're doing… you're not an actor or running for office.
So question here, what if you dont know what side the bearing retainer caps came off of? What would you have to do to figure them out or make them right? Same question for the races? I have a box of parts, no makings to what side.
vaseline petroleum jelly on the axle seal lips.
Fuggin 28 GD commercials for one YouTube video is EXCESSIVE!! Nothing is worth that aggravation.
Make it all new, I like it👍
Do you have to grease the bearings that you use on the rear axle ?
Im having a lot of fun watching your "older" video's all 3 for this project!🙂
