Hello everybody! Good Day to you and welcome back! Today we are working on a 2014 Ford Fusion that has come into the shop with several problems. Customer States that rodents entered the engine compartment and caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. The car is here for inspection to see how much the critters destroyed and to determine of the car is safe to drive. After taking the vehicle into the shop the under hood inspection began. We found that the rodents had damages several components including the cars battery and several wires. There was even a hole that was eaten through the 12 volt battery!

Additionally, they may be attracted to the warmth and shelter that vehicles provide, leading them to explore and chew on components within the engine.

I had rats eat my battery 2 times until I caught the little varmints.
R, rats HAVE to chew hard stuff to literally file down their teeth. Rodents teeth continue to grow all life of rat!!!! If they do not chew their teeth will grow together closes mouth and/or grow into their skull from the lower jaw. Much like cattle with horns that curl and grow into the. Side of cow's head if not trimmed.
Had this happen 2 times on my audi a6 within 6 months. It was covered under comprehensive insurance subject to deductible. Had rodent discouragement device wired into engine compartment. Device has red and blue blinking lights, vibration, and emf waves running intermittently. Thus far, after 5 months no more damage is visible. Repair guy will do free inspections.
Hey Ray, if you would have put a piece of a ear plug in the hole first and then glued over the top with hot glue it would have sealed quicker😊
3M Scotch Super 88 is my go-to electrical tape. It's vinyl tape, but I've never had any Super88 get slimy and gummy like the cheaper tapes do.

Using the two part epoxy putty would have been much better to repair the battery.

When you need to seal a wire that has insulation damage, but not severed use some Silicone tape. It will seal well, especially when you stretch it. I rewrapped an entire harness section on an outboard motor that had all the insulation chewed off by mice! Done 8 years ago and still works perfectly!
Mr Ray, May I recommend you check out liquid tape (inna can)! I'm a retired electronics Engineer (tired ET?) and I've used this stuff for years. It also comes in red and black. Ed from near Spokane, WA. Keep up the great work and videos!!

Good videos, but extremely tired of the phrases "I'm glad you are here" "I'm super glad to be here" "don't forget to have a good day" "if you liked this video… click the like button". Can't explain why, but it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. Feels like manipulative pandering that otherwise is beneath Ray. Everything else is great. Just continue to put out good content and the likes/subscribes/view will follow.
All rodents chew to grind down their teeth. Rodent teeth never stop growing so chewing on dolid surfaces,/items sand,,/grind off the teeth edges. They wil chew things like cement blocks to mantsin the rught tooth length. Should the rodents not grind their teeth the teeth would eventually cross upper/,lower onto themselves. Lab rats gave been documented to starve when the rats teeth crossed and grew into a fence across rat jaws

Ray, I really like your videos. It’s the one channel that teaches mechanic work and makes it look fun that I can let my son watch and I don’t have to worry about what kinda things he’s gonna see and hear. But if you’re going to continue with sexual innuendo and language like I heard while you were unloading the trailer, we will drop your channel.
