7 Second Australian 1972 Valiant Charger

Not a car you see in the US that often, John Faraone’s 4200lbs 572ci Twin 88mm Turbo powered 1972 Valiant Charger layed down some serious passes on Drag Week, especially the last day when he overcame some tuning issues and broke into the 7’s! We love seeing people come from overseas to enjoy this insane event, especially when they come from the opposite side of the world!

  1. I dunno, seems to me that Aussies (I am one btw) are a bit taciturn on camera at first, only opening up a bit after a while.

If any of our American bretheren are having trouble getting their heads around that Valiant, think of it as a Chrysler A-body, akin to the Duster and Demon, both of which I'm also quite fond of.

  2. My dad had a VJ Charger. Traded it in for a bloody Commodore nearly 30 years ago. Wish he didn't. Probably be worth a fortune now.

  3. There is nothing better than an Aussie Charger in Mercury Silver, the most beautiful car we have ever produced and this is a fine example.

  4. The inline 6 cyl version ran a 265 Hemi with triple Webers out of the showroom back in the day. Went like shit off a shovel and was madder than a cut Snake. Straya, mate.

  5. the driver had a rossler performance shirt from girard ohio i live in liberty which is 3 minutes away from there and have gone to rossler before they go great work never thought id see a aussie driving a charger with that shirt on small world

  6. madness, damn that punches out of the hole. and hooking up the U-Haul…PRICELESS
Maybe if it was coloured up like the General Lee the yanks might really get confused as it speeds down the wrong side of the road.
