havoline oil. i don't care if they just changed the oil. i will sea foam the engine and fuel before i get home and with in 2 days i change the oil. and fuel filter. my old 4.6 would start smoking after about 10 minutes of driving. i stopped pulled the pvc out and saw it was stopped up just like that. i sea foamed it and by the time i got home it stopped smoking. now that engine now has over 300.000 miles on it and it looks new on the inside.
I have a 70 El-camino badged like that. 400 on fenders with a 402 big block.
with the old 5 digit odometers it looked more like 158000 miles
Thank you way to cool not to fix and let it live another 50 years
BUMMER DUDE
400 was a marketing gimmick by Chevrolet. Chevelles did the same thing 70-72. The Malibu 400 was a 330 HP 402 4 BBL LS3.
My dad was hard on me . I hated it growing up. I thank him now for way he raised me
Mike Hinson commented" No 400 small block came from factory with a 4 bbl,all were 2bbl" Wrong my friend, 1970 brought us the 400/300 horse featuring 4 bolt mains and quadrajet. 1971 and later were all 2bbl. and 2 bolt main engines.
Those head's will support 500 to 600 hp
That is 150000 miles
Your son is getting an incredible education. One I never had, had to make up for it.
You should go check out Purkey's Auto Salvage near Coffeyville Kansas. I know they still have a lot of vintage cars.
😂 No that isn't how it goes…😂 I am kidding of course….
I would put a little cam in it. Just a little cam
My 386 375 horse spun the bearing running it hard because they ran to hot unless you up graded the radiator.
A lot of 396 70 chevelles had 402s even the ss cars I know I had one . threw that away and ended up putting a L88 427 in it . It was red with the black stripes and black Landau top.
I just want to know how much it's gonna cost because I am interested heavily
Haha panama red was the good good back in the day. But what ruin that engine was putting an oil additive in it. It broke all that crud loose in the heads and it cloged the oil passages once bearing can't get oil they get hot and spin
All 400’s came with a 2bbl up to 1973, after that they were offered with a 4bbl
People will pay more for numbers matching
Ford Blue
Mullets are back? What ever way your hair is that the first pretty girl say she likes it, That is the style that will stick in his head….. He needs to find a good looking chick to help him out. If all the girls his age in the OK like the Mullet look …. well carry on… but take a look at the girls he hangs around with? help him out
crank kit over haul gasket set rings and use stock heads get 40k miles out of it easy.
I bet you guys dont put that motor together rebuild it in your garage
Didn't know the mullet come back in style it must be that way in Oklahoma
The car is too nice not to put plastic covers on the front fenders, get some!!
I got a running pan to carb $2000 in Michigan
I think that dude has something wrong with his eyes!🙄
Could have never had its oil changed but once…..
Bet you 100 its had that head off
When I was 19, 30 years ago I had a 73 coupe deville my grandfather found for me and it had a valve cover leak so I fixed it. I didn’t know shit about stock colors so I grabbed a blue I liked. Came to find out it was Ford blue and my buddies all made fun of me.
Keep the numbers matching engine man
Love that you're working with your son. The show never showed this side of you. Good luck with the rebuild
Those heads breathe pretty deep with a big street cam! Only problem is weight, but putting that girl on a diet might be a bigger mission than even Jenny Craig is up for.
I can't believe u don't put somethin over fenders to not scratch em. What a cool ol car that is!!!!!. Someone will love to have that. Wish i had learned cars like that young guy. Always work in that world seems like
She’s such a beautiful vehicle
If it was Pennzoil everything would be yellow
I think Aiden must cut his own hair or may try to is a better description. Gotta love the mullet.
My 66 396 had a nylon cam gear. Still have it hanging on the wall in the garage.
Those ARE good heads. Large oval. Looks like the passenger side head was off at one time, which would explain why it’s so clean.
So Shawn how much do you want for the Caprice?
Some speculate it was because mixung different oil brands back in the day caused them to sludge up
The reason an old 58000 motor looks like that is the paraffin in the oil
Keep it original Shawn it’ll make it worth it
If you guys want to sell that Impala or come accross another donk let me know!!! I live out here in Chicago and they are almost impossible to find!!!! Thanks…………Cadillac Joe!!! 😎. Jamedina1969@yahoo.com
Keep it factory
Yes Pennzoil or a oil change every five years. Whether it needs it or not. Fix up the big block.
Just rebuild the original motor. Put a nice cam in it. They like making donk cars out of those. So you will get good money for it.
Lack of maintenance and ignorance is what killed this engine! BOTTOM LINE!!!!!
you guys are cooll ,wattch alll you do have a drink Willlies shop in bridgegwater ,MA
