  2. It's almost sad to see that Dodge Vipers just aren't that quick compared to the performance cars of today.. I can remember when a Normally Aspirated 8.0 Litre V-10 producing 400-500bhp was unanimously considered to be 'ridiculously powerful', and when combined with that sleek, aggressive Roadster/Coupe Sports Body – represented one of the most exciting and desirable Supercars on the road…

Fast forward a couple of decades though, and while it's still got the looks – it's now being dominated by 2-3 Litre, 4-6 Cylinder Japanese Turbos in just about every performance characteristic other than Torque. It's now fairly commonplace to see a Skyline, Supra, or Impreza putting out power levels far in excess of 600bhp – and so even the newer, higher-spec Vipers are still comparatively sluggish.

Looking back, this was a time when a '94 WRX tuned up to 300bhp with all the STI bolt-ons was about as good as you could get for an 'affordable' street-legal performance car, and was definitely very quick.. To think that 500bhp Impreza's and 1000bhp GTR's are now the 'benchmark' for tuned-up JDM performance cars, and that even a Lamborghni Gallardo can't keep up without aftermarket turbo-chargers and a ton of boost – is a real sign of the times..

Who woulda thought that a stock Nissan Skyline (or 'Nismo GTR') is now an 'Official Supercar'; contending with the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini straight off the production line – and that even when they are both tuned-up and modified for racing, the GTR will still pull away..

I guess all I'm saying is '"my how things have changed". Always been a big fan of JDM performance cars, but I never thought I'd see the day where they were capable of kicking the 'classics' off the mountain top..

Anyway – I should probably just create myself a blog..

  3. Bikes are boring, they buy an exhaust and power commander and then go racing. The car guys have countless dollars and time vested in their cars.
