i use to buy these cars for a few hundred dollars bust the windows out of them weld the rear end and race them in a enduro races from 150 to 300 laps. they wasn't the fastest but they was almost impossible to kill.
Make sure you check with the NDRA cause I want to see the your build at all the shows let them know the Midwest is in this bit

First one it was about survival. Everybody wrecking each other . The winner went across the line backwards . Also making set of tires last lot of front runners in beginning and middle had blow outs . Stay on lead lap conserve tires best as possible and then be ready for the scramble last 25 laps or so .
