That thing with the parking brake doesn't make a lot of sense, i guess you are using it to "pre-load the axle" when launching. I can't imagine a broken axle is happening because of slack or something between the drivetrain components. I would imagine a broken axle or similar component is because the wheel is biting the ground and all that power is trying to move something so heavy initially. My big point, is having the E-brake active is only adding extra stress to the lunch, i promise you, you're literally increasing the chance of snapping something. The initial moving of the car is the most stress on the drivetrain, pulling the e-brake is making the car harder to move, or really, making the rear wheels harder to spin in this case, so launching the car even harder is just a really really bad idea. For real, don't do it
Some taller stickier tires, an lsd, working handbrake, shift knob. Could of broke into the 10's.

Most likely flattened out a little, its happened to me before after a shit load of passes sychros tend to get hot. Next morning went into gear fine
