  1. Hi Eric. I watched your video and it was very helpful.I have a 2014 Volkswagon Jetta. I notice that when i am driving sometimes the accolls but then it starts blowing warm air for a bit. Then it cools again. I have taken it to pep boys but they found nothing wrong. Why is it doing that?

  2. My AC system was empty because the motor was taken out to paint the engine bay. I was melting in the 100+ degree weather and got a can of refrigerant at the auto store. I added it to the car in the parking lot and was relieved. Now I'm freaking out wondering how much oil my system has or needs. Is there a way to check? Should I start over and apply vacuum and refill? Even then how much oil is needed? Thanks a million!

  3. Eric I have a problem that is driving me crazy I have a Ford F-150 2015 that is short cycling compressor clutch will engage for 3 mins then it starts and stops which never gets the car cool enough because never stays on my gauges when engage show proper charge I will evacuate system vacuum and recharge by weight specs and it still has same issue replace high pressure switch but couldn’t find low pressure which. Any ideas?

  4. I vacuumed my 1984 dodge d150. converted it to r134a by that I mean I put the retrofit high side and low side adapter on them. and added refrigerant. it cools and compressor kicks on but on two of my old vehicles that I did it only cools to 60degress. why is that? I can't figure out !

  5. Just watched another video, where they said to put it out in the hot sun, open all the windows and place it in the center vent, on Max. They were also taking temps at the evaporator and condenser, and looking what the difference was between the vent & the evaporator.

  6. I see here it's a Toyota 4runner same year model as mine, the evaperator went out on mine and the whole dash needs to be removed to get to the evap box, have you ever done a job this big and how hard do you think it is to remove it? I already attended automotive school and have my ac license but just asking for an opinion on the actual mechanical part of removing the whole dash and all of its accessories.

  7. Hi! Eric, Been watching your vids for sometime today and yes I could gather some great tricks. However I am bothered with a particular problem which occurs during long drives (3 hours or more). The air from my blower stars to reduce. After I switch off the ac, but leave the blower on, there is slight smell like that of ice and the air from the blower. Slowly the air from the blower increases and also the smell goes away. I can again switch the ac on and it is ok. Feel that there is some ice formation cloggin up my ac somewhere. Can you suggest where to look for the problem?

  8. +EricTheCarGuy I have a 1994 Toyota Camry V6LE that sometimes cools extremely well and other times at all we have had a new compressor put in and fresh charge

  9. here is what I learnt never trust  those gages you buy at wlamart or any local auto part store etc  because those manuals on what you should set the psi at are wrong to here is what I learnt never trust  those gages you buy at wlamart or any local auto part store etc  because those manuals on what you should set the psi at are wrong to charge the a/c. I  used this ez a/c gage from Walmart that was 17 bucks and the instructions said  when the temp is at 85f to 95f degrees outside set the charge to 45 to 55 psi. well guess what, I did  exactly that and my compressor kept clicking on and off. plus I used a temp gage in the vents to see what was going on. it would stay at 60f degrees one second and 75f degrees the next until the compressor kicked back on then it would settle down to 60f, just to have the compressor shut off and go to 75f degrees again, it was overcharged at 45 psi. so I decided to let out some a/c on the low side valve and go down to 35 psi instead and now it runs perfect. the temps when the car was idle is at 60f degrees and the compressor didn't kick on and off. so from my exp at least don't trust what the user manual says with those types of a/c gage you can buy at a local auto part store. 35 psi seems to be in the perfect range on both my car and my truck and it is ice cold it was 95 degrees where I lived today with high humidity and my a/c temp was hovering between the 55F to 60F degree range. can't get much better then that. that was a 35 to 40 degree drop in temp compared to the outside temp. so I hope this may help people with their a/c as it did me.

  10. 2005 ford freestyle; blowing cool air driver side , warm air on passenger side. all settings are set to lowest possible temperature.

  11. The shop I work for doesn't pay shit for ac.. They put an AC performance test on the ticket, which is only about .3 hours, and expect me to do an evac, pull vacuum on the system, and recharge. Is this right? I had a car today that they put a performance test on, and the ac clutch wasn't engaging. so I asked for a evac+recharge, or diagnostic time. And they told me to "just had a little bit of freon until the clutch engages" wtf? I wasn't trained to add freon to an unknown system until the AC clutch engages. Can you comment on this please? I've about had enough of this place.

  12. Eric, not sure if you will see this, but in Australia ford has the falcons still, but there has been an issue where new cars have an issue cooling the air when ac is on, and it turns out, ford designed it that if you had the ac running and you would step on the accelerator or "gas" they would cut the ac to give you more engine power. There are some days where the ac would be set on cold but putting out a temp higher then outside. Any thoughts on improving this?

  13. have to add 3 cans every year because it leaks out every winter but need to get the seals replaced so I can quit adding

  14. Hi. I have an issue with my ac. With the engine and ac off there is 90 psi pressure on both high and low side. When ac running the low side drops down to about 80 psi and the high side goes up to about 95 psi. There is some cold air coming out from dash but it is just about fresh. There is definitely gas in the system as it was working before and it suddenly stopped working. I have had some spare gas in a bottle so I've put it in the system but no change. The engin idle does not change when I turn on the ac. Any ideas how to identify the faulty part?
    Cheers
    Peter

  15. Hi Eric. I have a 91 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. I replaced the ac compressor, evaporator, accumulator orifice tube and flushed the system with laquer thinner. I pulled a vacuum the recharged system. I have a 16" aux cooling fan in front of my condenser I live in Florida and its about 95 degrees with 73 percent humidity. During the day the temp at idle with fan running is 55 degrees. While driving it gets down to 48-50. Does that seem ok to you? My wifes new Kia Sorrento is 40 degrees at idle.

  16. Hi eric ,I got an 01 mustang bullitt and the a/c dosent work.. The fluid is there and no leaks but the clutch plate on the compressor never kicks in ..What should I do to fix it.

  17. hey eric i just replaced my expansion valve, dryer, compressor …… to 94 honda civic 1.5 liter …. when its on idle it really dont cool down only when im driving down the street it gets cold …… i checked the guages and pressure is around 40 …. please help it is hot in houston

  18. I'm not an expert but thats probably normal. The a/c compressor in most cars cycles after its been on a while and the radiator/cooling fan does the same. I the process occurs every 3-5 secs the system is overcharged, but from what you described it sounds like normal to me. Im not an expert like EricTheCarGuy tho.

  19. hey Eric i had a mishap recharging my dads 1998 Honda Civic. i used the gauge the r134a came with and it had about 23psi before i charged it and ended at 27psi before i went on a drive. i drove easy for about 2 miles and decided i better get up in rpms to make sure there went any leaks or force stuff out to see if there were. well when i did, i got it to about 5k rpm and heard a pop. the safety valve on the back of the compressor puked refridge everywhere but now it has psi but clutch is on +off

  20. Eric, I started watching this video and at the beginning it said "Are you hot?" and I thought you said "Are you high?". I was like "OMG How did he know?"
