At the time I shot the video I was not aware that it was also capable of reading SRS codes.

Honestly, I found this tool difficult to set up. I will admit that this may be due to the interface with my phone however. Once I got it up and running it seemed to work fine however. This tool can be a simple code reader, or it can be on par with some of the more high end scanners due to it’s ABS, SRS capabilities, and the ‘Code Connect’ feature. Also with ‘Code Connect’ it can provide additional diagnostic information that is not found in many other scan tools. At least for the code I checked it seemed the information was minimal, but it was accurate. That said, this seems like it would be a nice scanner for the DIY and possibly for side work if you’re a professional technician. It really depends on how much you want to spend on the in app purchases to unlock the tools full capabilities.

  1. Check in ebay or Amazon the autel 319 $34 dollar plus free shipping and you can see "live data" to help with the diagnostic. 😀

  2. Great Video…I've done everything but stand on my head and cant figure out how to Erase Codes..I use an Android phone and am just not seeing it. I also have to constantly unplug my UScan.. Its a bit testy getting it connected. I think I paid something like $90. ??? Worth it???? Thanks

  3. We also need the PID data for fuel tank pressure, A/C refrigerant pressure, MAF flow, EGR, MISFIRE history, intake MAP pressure, transmission temperature, trans gear, cooling fan status.

I can see all of these (not MAF) on my 1995 Buick and a few more using the Autoxray scanner I bought back in 1998 or so. BTW, I've learned how to unlock the features of the Autoxray EZ-READ, EZ-LINK, EZ-Scan tools. The manifold pressure reported by Autoxray of my 2000 Buick is opposite of reality, 9"Hg at idle and 30"Hg engine off, lol.

Powertrain Codes, etc. definitions are searchable online, so not a big deal thus a waste of money paying for redundancy.

  4. Sorry to hear people have been disappointing with this product.

If you can persevere at learning how to navigate the interface you will find it really useful.

Like any new tool, you have to learn how to use it only because this interface isn't intuitive or user friendly, that's the really frustrating thing and there isn't any solid "how to" tutorials from Actron.
Maybe they could change the menu to be more specific on the available options? (or provide a full tutorial)

I have been using the U-Scan for a couple of years now and it's been a good investment.
Yes the interface is confusing to learn, but once you have it's actually quite a powerful little tool for diagnostics.
I found the live data stream is really good for fault finding.
Mine, not too long ago, updated and unlocked all features.
Overall…my U-Scan has LITERALLY saved my hundreds in wasted time testing components and being stung by the service centres who charge a minimum $140 to plug in their $5k + diagnostics machines just to erase a code this tool can do. Mine has earned its keep in my garage.
And just FYI I have no affiliation with the company, I'm just relatively happy with the results I have had with it personally.

  5. I bought the Australian Version from Supercheap autos at a PREMIUM price. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent DO NOT BUY for Australian vehicles, car in the container states categorically will work with my vehicle, all I get is car is moving(wrong!) or out of range(less then 15cm) People save your money and buy something that works

  6. I know this review is old but if you stumble on this video this unit now comes unlocked and the in app purchases are now included.

  7. Just get the BlueDriver OBD2 Diagnostic Scan Tool Bluetooth Reader. It does it all with only one cost of $99. No hidden fee's like with the reviewed tool.

  8. Don't buy, 1. no updates for 3 years I've had it, 2. nearly impossible to get to the menu to reset codes, 3. some add on purchases don't work now…good idea gone bad!

  9. You lost me as soon as you said the word "subscription." Subscriptions are a ripoff. Plus if you lose internet or have a weak connection, you are screwed.

  10. $255?! AND all those issues…yeah, they can suck it….freaking crack heads! There's WAY better options out there for that kind of scratch!

  11. This unit is pretty decent except for it will not read ABS after 2012. I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 6.6 diesel with era codes for ABS that this unit will not read.

  12. I'm looking for a good scan tool for my '93 Lincoln Towncar OBD1 and also 97+ Lincoln Towncars (OBDII…After reading the reviews on Summit they said this doesn't do Fords very well..Any recommendations that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Especially for a backyard mechanic with some college education in automotive?
My check engine light just came on and I think I know the issue..my Idle Air control valve is faulty, it won't idle till it is warm.

  13. I hate mine i have the Bosch Mobile Scan OBD 1050. I had all the features unlocked but now I have none of them mysteriously and I have tried restoring my purchases still no luck. I contacted OTC tools over a month with this issue and haven't heard back and can't get anyone on the phone. I don't think I'll have another unless they fix the issue

  14. OMG!! you talk more than a chic! im a born girl…and you talk to much in videos… CUT TO THE CHASE ALREADY. shorten your videos.

  15. dear eric I don't know if you will answer this but I have a rair birth defect where I don't sweet the van I bought runs good  but is a used vehickel I live in Portsmouth ohio my van has no ac it worked when I put refrigerant in it but leeks out fast  am on fix income and cant afford to fix it

  16. +EricTheCarGuy I wonder if you can help me. I have this tool but all I'm able to do is scan for fault codes. everything else is unsupported for my mx5, Lacetti or Rx8. am I doing something wrong? things like abs airbag power train etc.
