I am SOOOO happy to be done with my Harbor Freight light. Yes, these lights are more expensive, but consider this, I bought 2 Harbor Freight lights because one of them died (not because I thew it, but because the battery died). They were about $20 a peace. If you do the math, quality tools are always better. Not to mention mine was used and abused before I ever got it.

The slim light is also cool. I use it when the batteries die on the 40SL. It’s also a tough little bugger as you saw in the video.

The flex light, I have to use that one a bit more, but I get so much use out of the other 2, for me, it doesn’t matter much. I’ll find a use for it.

Thanks for watching!

  1. Eric, can you please review the newest worklight that my company will begin selling in Jan? I will pay you. Look up Goose-Grip Mechanic's Worklight on YouTube. I will launch this product in Jan or Feb. Nobody will be disappointed. Maybe pushback on pricing but I cannot make the light less money but I promise it will be the last light you buy for 10 years!

  2. Hey guys. I have this light and love it also. I had a wire come loose and just resoldered it. Also you can replace the 18650 battery if wish. There is just 2 ends where you have to solder. Once you take the back off you will see what I mean. Simple job.

  3. Has anyone tried the eBay version of these? They look identical to these but at a fraction of the cost. I must also mention that they are shipped from China.

  4. HF now has their version of this light referred to as the Braun slim bar folding LED light. The Braun has rechargeable batteries in it that can be removed and replaced. To replace the batteries you unscrew the end cap and replace them. The end of the light also has a magnet like the Asto. The Asto light you have to recharge the light. The Braun light also swivels as well as bending it 45 degrees either left or right. The switch only turns on low, high, flashlight mode, and off, not adjustable. I think you will like it better than the asto light.

  5. I’ve hated my fluorescent tube handheld since the day I bought it.
Never bright enough to work, but always bright enough to blind you.
I think I’ll run over it.

Glad I found your review on the Astro 40SL, Eric. Thanks….
(hope they pay you a commission)

  6. I love my 40sl. Minor issue but the little recharge light failed. It still charges and works fine but I don't get the red or blue light any more. I too wish the switch had more drag on it or was recessed. I also have a little velcro wrap around it to keep dirt and crap out of the USB charge port. That little rubber cover doesn't make it for me . Last bitch. Why black? Come on Astro how about "hot" green, blue or pink even. (or red). Best damn work light I've used and yes the magnet is killer.

  7. the black light is available under several different name in Europe and Uk. Force is one and Hubitools is one other. in Australia its brand is kincrome.

  8. Hey man, think i'm going to purchase the black one, it looks like it give out a decent amount of light! What camera are you using bud? It looks really good quality

  9. I randomly found this light on Amazon and then YT searched it and as soon as I saw ETCG review it and liked it I bought it

  10. MATCO sells the same light that you prefer (Astro Pneumatic 40SL (magnet light)$52.95). It cost around $130 dollars on the MATCO truck. I have been burned twice by not watching your videos. I bought one about 5 months ago but accidentally left it on a truck I was working on. So I bought another one. Damn it all to hell. I would also suggest this light to every one. Astro Pneumatic 40SL (magnet light)$52.95.

  11. Had to come watch this video again before I finally decided to buy the 40SL. Too bad its 86$ here in Canada but I hope to have it longer than most lights I've owned which has been a few days. Since the magnet on this light is super strong hopefully It'll stick to the frame on my test drives
