  2. Hi Eric, your video is very useful. I face the same situations, noises coming out from the brake pad. Just today the brake pad shim just fall out from my front right wheel. Back luck is I found the same thing happen on the front left wheel…

  3. I just bought and installed new pads and rotors. One drive later I got grooves in the rotor. Sure enough the backing plate (shim) fell off!

  4. So if my new brake pads have shims on them, it's ok to remove the shims and spread some CRC Brake Pad Quiet on them, instead? I bought a bottle, then noticed it says Not to be used on shims.

  5. I agree with everything he said but cant believe he touched the new pad surface with dirty gloves. You should never risk any oil contamination on new pads

  6. Guten Tag ! ..so i can write in german ? . i have a relatively loud click noise on My Lexus Hybrid when press brake pedal and after release it and accelerating. I comes near from brake and front and rear but the car has 2 E-motors also front and rear. SOme say its a normal shit Hybrid problem which many Hybrids face. On the other hand i think it could be outworn brake shims too ? car is 10 years and lots of km. other than that it runs very well and brake pad are about 30% -40%left.

  7. I have the same new pads where the shim in part of the pads (Wagner's I believe) but i still get this weird POP noise whenever I press the brake pedal. Doesn't matter if I'm moving or not. I can be parked and pressing the pedal will make it pop. I lubricated everything and it has new guides for the pads, etc, but it'll still pop! I don't get it 😭

  8. Hey guys I need help. I had an accident in May — a man came into my lane so I swerved and my rear passenger wheel hit a curb very hard. Ever since then, my right brake shim on that wheel has been wearing down and I think melting off every 2-4 weeks. The wheel makes a horrid squeaking noise that worsens over time. It squeaks while accelerating and eventually grinds when braking. I have replaced the shim so many times just for it to fail again. I have seen many mechanics to no avail. Can someone tell me what exactly may have happened during the accident that could cause this this to keep happening? Is something wrong with my brake pad or caliper, or other machinery?

  10. Only time I ever use shims if if they pad is so loose that it makes noise going down the road. Ive had cars come in where the rotor can be bright red from the pad not sliding back because the shim the previous mechanic put in there cause its to stick

  11. So he left the rotor with the groove cut into it on the car instead of replacing it? I know it's not on the pad surface but a sharp edged groove like that is a great place for cracks to start, particularly with the stress and heat cycles the rotor goes through.
