Building my SR20DET with Forged Internals

My SR20 was low in compression so we decided to rebuild it with forged internals! (Full parts list below). While I was at the BMX contest this weekend Alberto pulled the engine out so we could build it together and document the process! LZ MERCHANDISE – http://LZBMX.com

In case your’e confused, we are in the process of building a crazy stroker 2JZ, but after getting word back from a few manufacturers that custom parts would take over a month we decided to rebuild the SR20 now rather than later. The original plan was to rebuild it once the 2J was done and put it in another car, but now we just decided to do it sooner. The engine was pretty unhealthy and I was concerned that if I kept running it I might do more damage to the block/head than was already done.

I’ve never built an engine, or seen someone build an engine for that matter, so I was really excited that Alberto let me help out and talked me through the whole process. I tried to document as much as I could in as much detail, but sometimes it gets tough when we’re on a time crunch. Hope you liked it though!

  1. You are awesome man, I love your taste in cars/engines and I think you surround yourself with awesome people. Now that I'm learning about engines in my auto tech class I appreciate the videos you make sooo much more. Cheers!

  2. There is also a kangaroo on the transmission mated to my Infiniti G20's sr20de. the kangaroo is a branding mark to an Australian company that provided parts to the cars nissan built. i cant remember the name of the company off the top of my head and google is failing me.

  3. Need to upsize head studs, get Texas speed to make head gasket kit like Leroy runs then it mite last more than 1 week without lifting the head, good luck runinng 30Lbs of boost….💩

  4. Confused 😣 you bought springs and lifters but got super cheap and taking g valves out of a abused engine even though a whole set new is only $250-350

  5. For nissan napz it has a z24 motor heads are stamped with the kangaroo which is rare because it’s a performance head compared to a regular one

  6. The kangaroo symbol is on, most Australian released sr20det cars like the s14 and s15 idk why but it, is something to do with Aussie sr20det engines mate

  7. Hey I want to build the sr on my 240 talking ballpark what kind of price am I looking at for parts and labor. I want to stroke and bore it to 2.2 or 2.3 crank rods pistons cams, basically a safe setup to run about 600 to 700 whp for drifting. And and all information will be useful.
