I feel you can learn more from a test drive than just about anything else that I’ve covered so far so be sure to take the vehicle you’re looking to purchase for a thorough test drive to really shake it down before you commit to purchase.

he mentions about taking the car to a mechanic before purchasing, (like on the test drive) none of the used cars ive "known" have the owners allowed for me to do that. (well i never asked & didnt need to) is that "viable option"? i guess just cause i never did it.

Point is if you are buying you will eventually put more money into it and of course it’s used. So you factor that into the price and offer the seller a lower price not too low but a fair deal
Check for rust under the car especially driver side!!! And check break pads!!

Hey Eric! Really enjoy your vehicles and appreciate these videos on what to look for into buying a used vehicle. I was wondering if you can do a video on how buy a car at a public auction. That would be an awesome video who are looking to buy a car to flip or for themselves.
this 4 part series in total, with everything done.. would take about 30-45 mins not hat they aren't very great to check but..most private sellers will only allow or "perfer" you to just take it for at most (20min.) test drive

I'm looking for a truck and while the tacoma is a solid truck and sometimes better than a Ranger, they are ALWAYS sold when they are done wheeling in them. Rangers are generally used for transport, trailers or work but rarely 4 wheeling unless it's an older model.

Ill give you advice too: don't buy car with sun/moon roof. They always leak.
Make sure you go on the high way and spend some time in ALL the gears. Any noise from the gearbox: deduct at least $1500 from the price or walk away.
So two years ago i bought i bought a modified car without checking half of what is shown in this series of videos. A 1995 honda accord wagon wich are super rare here in Quebec. It has the engine and manual transmission , hubs and brakes from a 2001 prelude plus coilovers and such. It is really fun to drive and i love it.
But,
I kinda wish i knew all this… Maybe i would have been able to negociate the price down a bit the car was a bit of a mess when i got it. Idle issues, loose suspention components, weird tire wear and electrical weirdnesses. Fortunately i was able to fix most of these thanks to your channel Eric !

Thanks for the series of videos about buying new cars. I have the same comment regarding buying modified cars. I am into Jeep Wrangler and modifying Wrangler for my use. I know most used Wrangler have have some kind of modification, and some have some extensive modification. I rather buy a non-modified Wrangler and modify it to my need instead of buying some else bad work. This is also the cause of Wrangler notorious reputation for bad handling because so many mods were bastardized, like sway bar was removed, etc… . Anyway and many thanks for all the repair videos over the years too. .
even if you take it to a professional. you should really go through the steps he shows and more yourself. do so before then take it to the mechanic. mechanics will never check everything most will check the fluids the breaks, suspention, lights, some will check pc code,test drive. but they might not notice some nuisances such as the automatic doors not working or broken wiper fluid, broken cigarette lighter. it is always better to get the cat checked via a mechanic on top of your check in case they notice major issues as he says they have an eye for this but do not expect an a to z check as he mentions unless your forking over hundred of dollars.
Hey there! I am thinking about buying a 2007 Pontiac G6 convertible hardtop with 70k miles. Is it a good idea? I have to deal with snow so fwd is better in my case. What commom problems with this car should I be aware of? Would you recomend something else?
