One of the most important parts of a carburetor rebuild is setting it up properly after you’re done. There are also many times where a rebuild may not be necessary and you just need to perform some of these adjustments. Either way, I hope this video will help you should you need to adjust your carburetor.

  1. I love your videos. I have a motorcraft 4350 and can't seem to adjust the choke to where it is as loose to the touch as yours is in this video. Does the choke only affect the car during cold starting or does it also affect it in some way while driving? I hope I didn't screw mine up lol.

  3. There are so many instructions you can read and so many videos, but the little gem that makes this one so much more realistic and valuable "I don't think that's intake vacuum".

    Instant gratification when set up right. Cheaper to run in the long haul than most EFI systems.

    One little note, you mentioned the Electric Choke Coil, and were 100% correct about it. You just didn't mention that it's only a quick warm-up system, for better economy/emissions.
    The Dashpot Tube, coming up from the Exhaust Manifold, actually supplies the heat to keep the Choke open when fully warmed up.
    I know that's probably irrelevant in this case, but since you do such a great job of educating the young guys, I felt like that detail was worth mentioning. 😉

  5. I’ve got a 65 galaxie 500 289 I put a knock off replacement carb on it 2barrell when I snap the throttle it seems to take forever to wind back down the rpm any suggestions

  6. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I'll feel much more comfortable rebuilding and adjusting my carburetor. My '71 Gremlin has needed this for a very long time, the rebuild and the adjustment. Also glad you used a one-barrel Ford, since it is quite similar to my Carter YF.

  8. I am.facing the.problem of auto choke my car engine Toyota Corolla 2E when i start the car its vacuum pulls choke braker atonce i think it should pull.it slowly with coolant temperature please help me in this regard

  9. Thank you SO much! My mechanic swore I needed a new carb, but all I really needed to do was make a couple simple adjustments. I think I still have a vacum leak somewhere, but this alone has saved me over $400 on a new carb! THANK YOU!

  10. I have an 87 Jeep Wrangler are you familiar with Wranglers it was the first 87 computer and I bought the Jeep and these mechanics rip everything out now I'm trying to fix it myself with the electronic choke and I hope what you showed me on the video will help me

  11. I would like to ask, I have a rich smell when high rpm with my car, I checked exhaust system no problem with it, I checked leakage of fuel, no leak, I changed oil type because it had some smell too, but I think I have a problem with carburetor adjustment, what do you advise?
