FLOODED Immediately after Rebuilding Salvage Jetta GLI (Money Pit)

So I was picking the Jetta up from the shop after they finished a few little touch ups, then this happened…

  1. Water can get into the carpet if bulkhead grommets have deteriorated or the matrix is leaking and if the water galleys in the roof are damaged or blocked or like the peugot 206 if the rear light seal is broken

  2. I used to help valet Landrovers which we needed to pressure wash inside to clean mud.We then left a dehumidifier inside running for two days to dry out which worked well,I cant see a fan doing much to dry a car

  3. The body shop only charged 2500 for their work which is insanely low considering the amount of work they did. No wunder something was gonna be wrong. If I where you I would check the soldering stuf from the reconstructed side for inconsistencies as well since it's no fun when that brakes when the future owner takes that nice corner really fast.

  4. I had an old S-10 that leaked whenever it rained. (rusted a top of windshield.) I tore out what was left of the floor padding and poked holes to let it drain. drove it for years like that.

  5. if you don't like water, don't ever get a jeep wrangler. My soft top leaks like a siv. Fortunately all the electronics are up high so water doesn't get to them.

  6. If you are concerned about mold, an ozone generator is the truck. About $80 on Amazon, and it did the trick in my heavy mold damaged truck. Cleaned the mold, used the ozone generator on it, it has stayed perfect ever since

  7. I had water going on fuse box from clogged up water pipe from sunroof on my Volvo V70 2001
All fuses and relays, connectors were corroded very badly, faults kept coming up the dash for no reason…

  8. VAGs have all the same "flooding" problem. My A6 Audi is flooded too, cuz there's a drowning hole, where the leafs and dust can sit and the water can't drain. (Sry 4 my english 😀 I'm not from US)

  9. That's why you don't buy cars which had heavy damage. I'm not convinced that tiny hole did that, there was alot of water. If they left a hole bug enough to let water in, its a safety issue, as gas from the exhaust could get in. The bulkhead must be sealed for it to be safe. And also, how strong will that weld be??? Any impact in that corner will likely break that weld. Whoever welded it needs sacking also because their not competent welders.

  10. I purchased a 1982 Volkswagon Rabbit diesel in 1992 and the first time it rained I was at work and in the evening when it was dark I get into the car and splash my shoes were totally soaked it had a windshield leak and it was a garaged car the prior owner said lol.
