Don't forget: All OMs are not created equal. I had a 1999 Cavalier with all original documentation, but that had been wrecked and rebuilt before it came to me. There were NO labels under the hood or inside the door frames. So, I decided to check the OM for tire pressures and serpentine belt routing. All it said was to check the labels on the vehicle. Contacted GM with VIN and other pertinent information to ask for the info. They refused to even attempt to answer me. Their only response was for me to take the car to the dealer. Wasn't going to happen since it was sitting without a belt to run any accessories. Called dealer, their suggestion was to contact GM directly.
So true,hated it when people complain about the automakers instead of themselves.

The engineers who make cars, their kids can starve. Because of them, I have to do more work just to get a part off and on, 00 Chrysler Sebring 2.5l example. I had to remove the upper plenum just to replace the three spark plugs that were covered by the plenum.

You are just AWESOME !! why didn't I found u earlier? We have a car ( for 6+ years) since when I was almost a kid and believe me nobody even talked about the "owner's manual" . Because, it's like the owner of the car is our driver (He is NOT. My father gave him that power over us) And he is a lay man. He never read or write . When problem happens to the car, he just bring the car to a service center and take money from my father how much he wants. And now u just reminded me that, like everything else, cars also have a owner's manual ( Does't mean it's unusual to me. I just didn't care ) . Now I'm gonna kill that f**ing driver , because why didn't he tell me about that. Maybe he just threw it to a basket right after the car was bought, who knows. 🙁
Very interesting but my last 2 vehicles from 2 different places both did not include the owners manual. Why do dealers not include the manual with the vehicle and if its not there when they get it buy another manual and put it in none other than the glove box?

i brought a car, didn't come with a manual.. brought a repair manual for it… then at a later date was able to track down an owners manual for said car and found out why one of my dash lights was on (that wasn't covered in the repair manual) turns out it was the light indicate a blown globe 😛

90% (derived from my prejudice) of drivers in the States don't care to read the owner's manual and think they know their car. As a certified aircraft mechanic, following the manual is nothing but a norm. My 04 TL was missing the OM(a good sign the previous owner did not take good care), and although there was a free download ver, I bought one for $25. With this & the factory service manual, I hardly visit the dealer/shop.
