But I know they cost like 1,000 dollars but still would be good for using the Black Widow HTE just have to get the CFM on air compressor over 12 too I know about air compressors more now for looking at YouTube videos recently.

8. Those harbor freight guns work good. The real secret is you need to tear them down, clean them, and reseal them out of the box. They usually have air leaks and have oil from the manufacturing process still on them. Sometimes they work good out the box and sometimes you get duds.

12. how you clean up after use? I used the $13 found cannot clean up so I opened it, found the seal is once time rubber is I disassemble it for cleaning I need liquid seal or sth similar. comments?

13. For the people doing this on the streets – I highly recommend using a quality sealer that's the same color they used at the factory. It will lay flat as glass and become a great foundation for your paint job. Paint is transparent and if you're not using the same color sealer as the rest of the panels it will be hard to get a good match.
    If you're using a budget clear coat and intend to cut and rub it…. don't go lower than 2500 grit. Cheaper clears are a little softer and it's easier to break through.
    When spraying clear use 28psi at the gun… or higher. If you use less pressure you'll get more clear on the product and this is what causes orange peel.

14. i used the 15 dollar harbour gun on my bumpers on my mustang it didnt come out real smooth but a big improvement from before and with the car being white it looks pretty good

17. I’m no professional painter but I’ve worked around a few and picked up a few tips and tricks along the way, and used a Binks gun. Yes there’s lots of difference but I’ve got two Harbor Freight guns and sprayed acrylic single stage, water base stain, latex paint, oil base paint, as long as you keep it clean after painting and practice setting pressures thinning it can spray an excellent job. A lot of it depends upon your abilities, I’m currently spraying kitchen cabinets two coats oil base primer with Pentrol thinner sanding between all coats finishing with two coats oil base gloss white with the two quart pot and remote spray gun for about $49 I’m very satisfied.

19. Also I know this video is old but using a 1.4 tip for primer is likely why you had rough primer spots. Primer should be shot with about a 1.8 – 2.1 tip and also your air pressure can cause that, if the air pressure is too high the paint atomizes and dries almost immediately as it leaves the gun causing hard droplets to fall on whatever substrate you’re working with which gives you that rough texture.

22. I painted my homebuilt airplane with one of these guns and it did the job very well given the complete amateur pulling the trigger. Before I purchased the cheapo gun, I discussed it with the body guy that I take my vehicles to. The body guy said the cheapos work well for single job or maybe two or three. The cheap guns do not deal as well with repeated disassembly for cleaning as the better quality guns do. For a "one-off" job these guns are offer a great value for dollar spent. I have a brand new, in the box cheapo Harbor Freight gun waiting for my next spray job coming up in the next month or so.

    One safety comment though, some of the automotive finishes use iso-cyanide as a hardener which is really nasty stuff. Pay very close attention to the safety warnings on the finishing products you use as many are not suited for backyard use with a cartridge style respirator. Iso-cyanide paints require a fresh air breathing setup and pressurized full face mask to use safely, even a small exposure can do permanent damage to your health. The newer low VOC stuff is better but still be sure to follow the safety precautions listed on the product data sheets.

23. I'm actually looking at paint rn. It mentions hardener. Its stage 1. Does that need clear coat on top? Im having a 10 year ceramic coating put on. Figured. Me painting car myself is cheaper than 4500 to have it repainted at a shop. It's just basic black. No flake

25. One lesson that Sam never learns. Buy cheap. Buy twice. Yeah, you got those filters for $2, but then you had to buy a decent one, and go back and waste time and gas for what? a couple of bucks?

27. You dont use primer on a plastic bumper, you have to use sealer instead of primer. After spraying sealer, let it dry awhile then spray your base and clear
