How to Replace a Master Cylinder – EricTheCarGuy

So my brother tells me his car is not stopping and the brake pedal is slowly sinking to the floor when he is at a stop light, my solution, a master cylinder replacement. Join me on this quest to make the roads a little bit safer by helping my brother with this little problem. I know I do lots of stuff on Honda’s and Acura’s but I do work on other things too and we will get to those in the near future but for now I have a stock of footage of these cars so deal with it. I am trying to help you after all, and I hope that I do. If you really want me to do something I have 2 words, video response. Try that and I will pay attention. I get tons of text things but no video, I think I’m worth it, don’t you?

  1. Hello Eric this is Wilfredo, I have a 1993 Acura Integra gs, I need to replace my alternator,, my question to you is should I remove the master cylinder and all the components or should I remove the axle and do it from the bottom oof the car?

  2. What’s the torque spec on the two bolts for the master to the booster? About to put this thing back on and I always wanna do it correct! Thanks Eric

  3. Les Scwhab tried charging me 600 to do this… Wow I can easily do this myself. Not only that they ordered the wrong part and didn't start working on my car until 8 hours after being dropped off. I had a appointment scheduled a week out and everything. You have some tool knowledge do things yourself folks

  4. Eric, any idea why a Honda Civic master cylinder is absolutely STUCK to the brake booster?

I went at it with a chisel, penetrating fluid, hammering it, etc. Please help!

  5. When you bleeding the lines after bolting it on do you open both ports at one time or just one then have someone pressurize then repeat for the other

  6. 10 plus years later, you're still helping us with this video, sir!!!! Gotta replace the master cylinder on my mint 2002 CR-V and this video really helped me, especially the bench bleeding part. Thank you so much!!!!

  7. Hi Eric, I have a 2001 infiniti i30t in which i need to replace the master cylinder. Can you help me, I am thinking of doing the work myself. what wrenches do you recommend?

  8. I have a 2000 Audi A6 C5. The firewall will not permit me to remove the BMC. The two bolts just slide right out and ram against it so I cannot remove it. You just slide the fucking thing thinking you are making progress and it hits the firewall and the record skips. The first logical impulse is to fire up a chainsaw and howl… I hate Audi and will never buy their shit again. I would like to feed my wrench to whoever designed this crap. And I mean sideways and up through the asshole.

  9. Hi Eric, My reservoir keeps getting empty and I have to refill it every 2 days, i checked break lines no leak but I notice the car smokes white smoke from the front and from the exhaust like major smoke that's when I noticed the break pedal is lose. then I have to refile, is that master cylinder?

  10. Thanks Eric, Helper and Camera Guy, Video was interesting and well done. I will be putting on a Master Cylinder in a few days on my 91' Mazda P/U, and you video was very helpful. You can talk to me all day about how to do it, but I a "show me" guy, and that's why I go to Youtube. Thanks again.
