**Note, I forgot to mention about setting the parking brake or leaving the vehicle in gear when lifting. Chalking the wheels is also a good idea. This slipped my mind during production but keep in mind I have a level floor and I don’t often concern myself with this part of the procedure. I just wish I had put it into the video for those that don’t have solid level floors like I do. Once again the take away is to be smart and careful when you’re lifting a vehicle. If not, you could be seriously injured or killed.
I’ve been asked about doing this video about How To Safely Lift Your Vehicle for some time. In this video I cover the basics of jack, and jack stand placement for working on your vehicle. I can’t stress enough how important it is to take this seriously and do this properly. Failure to do so can result in damage to your vehicle, or worse, damage to you. That said, with a bit of common sense and effort you can safely lift your vehicle for access to it’s undercarriage.

Just dropping by for a quick tip: be aware of the cheap chinese jack stands on Amazon, even the 3Ton ones, many of these have very summary welds on them, don't trust your life on some crappy chinese backyard welding shop job and don't believe those positive Amazon feedbacks (these are done by paid Facebook groups), purchase a good brand jack stand

I don’t think this was mentioned and I don’t see a comment relating to it, I read that the jack stands should be minimum 3/4 the weight of the vehicle. I went with 2 and 3 times the weight of my vehicle (I could not find a pair of the same in stock), as it seemed to be a thing to not skimp on. What do you recommend?
I don't understand pinch welds, I use the correct plate thing to keep it from bending but sometimes it bends anyways, whyyy!
And on older cars they are almost always too rusty to use anyways, My dumb ass used one on my first car and it went straight through, luckily I had the tire under the vehicle to keep it from crushing my legs
Those lift points on the side are always weak as fuck, they nearly always crumple – relied on them twice.. never again! I wouldn't ever recommend anyone to use the factory jacking points – forget they exist and look for the frame. Also – jacking up your control arm won't hurt it but this is just my experience being a roadside mechanic in UK for the last 10 years.
Been using my Audis spare jack and my fords spare jack together for 2 years now to work on my car hahahah. Finally after months of the Audi jack bending terribly and the Ford jack barely even lifting and lowering I bought a low profile jack today. I only work in the street and it has a tilt so one back wheel was off the ground and then the car started moving toward the curb a little cuz the tilt of the road toward curbs yuh know. Idk which direction would be best to aim the jack being that the road has the tilt. Anybody got some pointers so I don’t destroy myself or the car one day?

VW is very bad at explaining it’s lift points. However I’ve jacked up from the control arm damper cap and about midway through it made a loud popping sound. I lowered it and drove it around but nothing seemed to be damaged or bent out of place. Is that normal?
