Replacing an Accord Wheel Bearing

Ok, here it is finally. A few of you have requested this procedure so here it is. As I said in the video I normally use a different method of removing the hub from the bearing assembly by using a slide hammer. I also normally use a press to reinstall the hub into the new bearing instead of hitting it with a hammer. Life is not perfect and we sometimes have to improvise as I did here. I know a few of you will ask about the size fasteners that I used to hammer the bearing out, I used hardened (8.8) 10×1.25 bolts to do the job.   1. Is there any way to see if the bearing was installed backwards after it's been installed on the car without taking it off? I got all 4 replaced and now I have an abs light. I'd rather not take everything apart if I didn't have to.

  5. Hey Eric I have a 2005 Honda Accord EX automatic how do you know when the front wheel bearings are going bad right now I feel a shimmy in the front of my brake pads are good and my brothers are good so I'm assuming it's the the front hub or bearing what do you think

  6. Hey Erick I have been a long time subscriber though I don't watch your videos much any more. The wire wheel in the press bore will clean the bore but it will damage the surface as well. Anyways love and peace glad to see you still kicking ass even though this video is 10 years old lol

  8. I just completed this job and here are a few tips. This process is the same for 94 – 97. If you cannot remove the knuckle from the car, separate the upper ball joint and leave the lower joint attached (mine was stubborn), then the hub/bearing assembly can be knocked out. I built a jig out of 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood with half moon cuts to encompass the bearing supported by 4×4's, leaving the hub free to come out towards the floor…. a very heavy hammer is essential.

    For assembly, put the hub in the freezer and the bearing in the oven, I heated it to 190 which is well within it's working temperature range. Quickly grease the hub and assemble, same hammer hitting a proper sized socket atop the hub. Make sure the INNER race is supported, it went together very easy.

    As a note, it seems the current model Timken bearing (513098) does NOT have the OEM style dust shield on the hub side, it has an internal seal on BOTH sides now. Also, the casting lines on the outer bearing was a little uneven and prevented the rotor from passing through it, I had to grind the curved surfaces a few thousandths to allow it to pass. I've seen a review from another user and they had the same observations.

  11. Hello. Does anyone know how to pull a CV join on an 1984 Accord. We are trying to pull the CV. Does the hub come off with a puller or do you have to pull the ball joints?

  12. Literally pulled this video up in while i was in the junkyard. I found an Accord that had a steering knuckle with a brand new lower ball joint already installed. Had to strip it down so I didn't spend too much since all I needed was the knuckle with the joint. taking the hub out worked like a charm on the spot.

  13. I didn't see you put the race back on the hub after you broke it off do you not need to replace it before putting back on the bearing assembly?
