  1. hahahaha, thats the pain of owning a subaru. pre-gapped iridium plugs, new coil packs, check the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator and the regulator itself, fuel pump if not changed already.
ive taken my sti apart many many many times and have had many many problems with it. the fuel pressure regulator on subarus are known to have issues like this and there is no way to monitor pressure unless you put in a sensor. under high pressure/boost it ends up not having enough to feed the engine and it will most likely cause the car to show lean readings and fuel cut. which also reminds me that your front 02 and rear 02 could also lead to this problem if they are bad.
in all i would replace your FPR, front and rear 02, and it seemed like you had already changed the plugs and coil packs.
if none of that fixed it then i would also check your grounds, which usually theres 2 on the intake manifold and 1 on the block behind the intake manifold on the driver side.
subarus are super fun to drive once you work out all the problems, for a few days atleast.

  2. I wonder if that Subaru has a 2.5 block swap and has ringland failure in that cylinder. The ej205 didnt really have that problem but the 2.5 oh yes
