1. I worked in the kitchen when I was doing my time. I got fired after about 2 weeks for stealing. Then for some crazy-ass reason I was let back on the team about two weeks later but nobody else that got caught stealing that day was allowed back…. every day the chef made us custom meals like clam chowder, pizzas, deep fried chicken sandwiches. I ate better in jail than I ever have in my life…

2. One way my and the guys would do it is i would have someone I know sit at a table close to the end of the line where they are handing the trays out. I would grab it amd quickly hand it off to a buddy at the table behind me amd I'd grab another.

What you have to worry about is ya dumb ass taking two trays causing big boy that’s dragging behind not getting his one tray. Then things get serious. All depends on what your meal set up is like. More often than not there isn’t a lot of extra.

9. I worked with a guy for a short period of time that actually talked about beating the duece. I forget what he called it but pretty much the same thing. He told me he got caught and what they did to him was not allow him to eat the next time around after he served his time in the hole to make up for that extra trey.

17. If the State is going to take your freedom away, they should be obligated to feed you healthy nutritious food – no one should be left hungry. Commissary shouldn't be an adjunct or replacement – it should be a reward for good behaviour. Let's face it, ramen, chocolate bars, Lays chips are all junk food, (with the exception of canned or pouched fish) – which is fine if prisoners are at least getting a solid nutritional base. No reason they shouldn't be allowed some snacks.
    Perhaps I'm the exception, but I think prisons should be the chance to intervene in a person's life. A chance (since they are now by necessity a captive audience) to educate and start to allow them to reform themselves. In order to do that you have to treat them with respect and dignity.
    I'm horrified by the prison rape jokes and having to starve in prison because you're indigent. All the violence. Taking away their freedom is enough in my book. And if they don't deserve to be let out, just keep them there.

20. I went to county for a month once and I was with drawling from methadone and Xanax. I don’t think I ate anything but koolaid, water, cake, candy, and a few hotdogs the entire 30 days I lost like 25 pounds. Not to mention I was shitting myself on a daily basis. Don’t get locked up, or better yet don’t be a drug addict. 3 years sober now

28. Never been to the pen and I pray that I never will but i served 10 years in CYA from the age of 13 to 23.. I was one of those (wards) that didn't have anyone on the outside putting money on my books but i definitely had a lil hustle about myself. I was Blessed to work in the chow hall and also maintenance( janitorial) in the Visiting hall. So everytime one of the homies got a visit I was able to sit down at his table with his family and get my grub on and this was an every weekend thing..

35. I been in and out due to questionable behavior. I am Mexican have experience in cooking. Once I get in kitchen I usually have free reign. They let me cook for all my fellow inmates.l feed every one good. In Florida prison had Assistant warden come in for my pastries.

36. In Australia 🇦🇺 prisons food and buy up food like the mia goreng noodles mixed with lunch meat and vegetables is a good cook up especially when you are working out in the yard because cook ups and after that a prison made dessert is better than a bakery dessert

37. The only problem with Aussie prisons is we have no access to proper gym equipment that’s why we use a mop stick with a 3 litre bucket of water with soaked up toilet rolls from end to end it can weigh around 15 kg but sometimes when those things are too light we use a 80kg bloke as a weight
