  1. I had katie in a college course, its actually how I even xame across her episode, we didnt become friends or close or anything but she was extremely nice 🙂

  2. And almost “how dare you” put those expectations on her or any one of us who initially flourished but had no family support to back it up?? Yes we could have gotten our PhDs. Yes we could have written a book. Yes we could have gone to law school. But it’s important to see where the “trip up” was…the disconnect between what we were capable of and what we became. Think about it! Who would willingly choose this life over the dreams set forth by our families??? Over what our true dreams were??? Blame the victim? Maybe if you don’t want to look in the mirror and acknowledge the part you played and how you failed us as your children

  3. Watch the full episode. I swear I lived a life almost directly parallel. Pressured to achieve bc things came easily to you. Stress and tension at home during your formative years which resulted in you looking for an escape. Loving school but being BRUTALIZED, TRAUMATIZED in that college setting so much that it changes you forever. It is an experience ripe for EDs and substance abuse….self-hatred. I would find it hard to believe Katie and I are alone in this. Parents, pay attention. Any loved ones, respond in love. I am an overcomer but it took more than a decade to do it. Ppl w collegiate affiliations…there are women suffering under your nose. I hope this episode gets widespread attn. it’s far too common and disgustingly normalized.
