  1. I’m totally sympathetic for everyone who has struggled with addiction. It’s terrible, no question, and it’s a complex state of mind that people get stuck in. But relapsing at 7 months pregnant when she was sober again is inexcusable. It’s not like she was still using and the withdrawal would take a toll. She was actually CLEAN, and she consciously made that decision to put the life of her child in jeopardy. Sorry, not okay.

  2. You have to be ready to want to get clean. I did rehab 5 times and it never worked. I ended up going cold turkey by myself in a caravan in the middle of no where, I got dropped off by a friend with instructions to pick me up 10 days later and ignore me if I phone asking to come get me and I’ve been clean since July 1999.

  3. I really try not to point fingers at people, or get judgemental… But I feel like the mother was really negligent in so many ways. For instance WHY was her 13 year old daughter hanging around 30 year old men? She was supposed to protect her from that, it's not like there was nothing she could do about it, she just didn't. Both of her parents were really screwed up, with her father getting violently drunk, dragging the kids around motels and living in cars.

  4. My son was born with disabilities in the nicu. I met at least 2 babies shaking and screaming who were born to addicts. The innocent babes are in horrible pain as their first moments on earth…
