“Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole” tells the individual stories of eight previously convicted child offenders sentenced to mandatory life terms, without parole, who are now seeking resentencing on the heels of a recent United States Supreme Court ruling. While some may be resentenced to life, others could be immediately released or given a new sentence that makes them eligible for parole.

  1. I'm watching this one right now. They tortured that poor man over and over. Both of them deserve to stay in there. This was no kid type crime.

  2. Ronalds family hugging cordells family and the exchange that they would pray for each other was sweet 🥺 he really destroyed both their families his own and cordells.

  3. What i can't find is how they found out about Kristen and Ronald murdering this poor guy. Did they turn themselves in?

  4. I went to high school with the two girls. Renee was in my biology class in 97-98 and Maestas sat behind me in World History in 98-99. I have a story about Maestas that still makes me uncomfortable to remember. I recently recited it to someone and came across this video.

  5. Not much has been said about Kristel Maestas' mother; Brenda Reynolds, demeanor but I found her to be despicable and quite frankly detestable. Not once did she acknowledge the fact that her daughter took part in such a horrific crime neither did she show remorse or empathy towards Richards' family. At least Ronald Bell's father acknowledged the pain of Richard's family and apologized on behalf of his son. All Kristel Maestas' mother was preoccupied with was her daughter coming home as if she was incarcerated for shoplifting. A life imprisonment is not nearly enough for the horrific and heinous acts of violence they meted upon Cordell Richards.

  6. It is a shame Ronald Bell has no more remorse about his crime at 36 then when he was a 17 year old pastor's son torturing a man for 8 hours before he lit him on fire and then came back the next day to finish him off with a cleaver.

  7. Ronald Bell sure has Donna Murray, the mitigation specialist, fooled. She talks about him like he is just some sweet little boy who broke his neighbor's window.

  8. Cordell was naive. He should have never taken in the sixteen year old girl. Huge red flag that if her parents threw her out of the house she is trouble.

  9. Deserved, I would’ve rather seen him tortured but a life sentence will do because it takes away all his freedoms and makes him suffer in prison, knowing he could’ve be free
