  1. And a $35,000 bill for the helicopter ride that her insurance will refuse to pay since the helicopter service is "out of network". $10,000 bill for "trauma team activation."

  2. I broke my ankle 3 miles into some canyons just like these in the Grand Canyon area. Search and rescue came to me and wanted to heli extract me just like this. When I asked how much a heli rescue was I promptly walked the 3 miles out. 4 hrs later, some ibuprofen, and water and I was out of there. Definitely hurt walking with a broken ankle but I’m debt free.

  3. Wow!! I give this fire and Rescue 100% credit two thumbs up whatever man! That is some dedication to your job when you have to climb up and go through all that to get somebody. Way to go man!

  4. I don't see the point in saving someone's life just so they can live the rest of it with a million dollars in debt, probably eventually homeless, with no ability to do anything but work long hours the rest of their lives.

  5. "The average air ambulance trip is 52 miles and costs between $12,000 to $25,000 per flight."

I'll drag myself down the mountain and make it to the hospital myself, thanks. Would be willing to bet, after everything else being factored in the bill, she was due around $60,000.

  6. People are so BLESSED being able to be RESCUED from EVERY situation (Motor vehicle accidents or mis adventures) regardless of how complicated or danger to the rescuers, it is FREE to the victim.

Thank you to all RESCUE PERSONNEL EVERY WHERE for all you do to save people (and animals).

  7. I hike all the time.

Once I hurt my ankle pretty bad. I did not want to have rescue get me. I made it out, in pain. I'm not wasting my cities resources on myself if I can make it out. Few months later, I had my ankle replaced.
