Some background info on difference of Oxygen Sensors and Air/Fuel Ratio Sensors. What distinguishes Air Fuel Ratio Sensors from regular O2 sensors is that the AFR Sensor is what is known as a wide range O2 sensor whereas the basic O2 sensor is a narrow range sensor. It can detect a wider range of air/fuel ratios than the basic O2 sensor. Also, the AFR Sensor has a little bit more circuity to enable it to detect more minute variations in the exhaust system air content (more sensitive than the O2 sensor). Therefore, it is able to make better adjustments through the ECM to add or subtract fuel to produce a better mix of air/fuel to maximize efficiency and minimize emissions.

Great vid, Chris👍. I always get a po107 code on my 08 pont vibe but here’s the kicker…. I have absolutely no symptoms, purrs like a kitten. But the Real conundrum, is that it only comes on during the winter months, up here in Ny. It goes off come spring, either by itself, or if I clear it myself. Been happening for several yrs now. Don’t think there r any evap leaks but there’s so many things I have to eliminate b4 I find cause. Was hoping this peculiar circumstance could help you narrow down my approach. Any advice?!

I get two codes on my toyota sienna 2004 p0171 and p0174 should i start with sensors? I tried the maf sensor test where i can run the car and disconnect the maf sensor and the car turned off so it means that one is good.
Nissan Micra 2003 1.2 throwing codes PO132 O2 sensor high voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1; PO138 02 Sensor high voltage bank 1 Sensor 2; PO037 H02 Heater Control circuit low Bank 1 Sensor 2. The car passes emissions but the check engine light comes back on each time codes are erased. I have run diagnostic with Top Don and i can see the Front Sensor oscillating 0.18 – 0.59 and Rear sensor steady at 1.275 v. So I don't understand why it keeps staying on? Any ideas? I have tried cat cleaner but light comes back on. (ps I have just bought some spares Lucas brand so will take the car to the mechanic to swap them.)
Do we need to clean O2 sensor ? With carb clean or anything? Because i think it wont help cleaning the outer protective casings of an O2 sensor. Could you plz help us understand why people clean O2 sensors with ultrasonic baths and carb cleaners…
The video title suggests O2 and AF sensors are the same thing but I heard from Toyota expert that O2 sensor is not the same as AF sensor. They may look physically the same but internally and functionally different. Their locations on the vehicle are also different. What you did in this video appears to be the AF sensor, not O2 sensor. Am I correct?

i have changed all tires with all season tire bridgestone weatherpeak, now its 10L/KM.
Also tire pressure same for all tire 35 psi.
recently changed engine oil and filter.

O man I wish you worked on this car more. I just bought one with bad head gasket and bad clutch. I’m struggling. The axles don’t come off so I gave up on that for now and I’m making it up as I go taking apart the top of the engine. I reached the point to take this sensor out but I don’t have this socket and I’m stuck! 😢

Hi, my car kia stonic 2018 1.6 crdi had new dpf,turbo,egr,intake manifold and o2 sensors, and it's still running rich , showing 0.9v at idle and when cruising at constant speed stays at 0.4-0.5v, when giving it throttle it goes down to 0.1-0.2 , when releasing the gas pedal goes as high as 1.4v , running i guess as it regenerates the dpf every 130 miles and has a thin layer of soot inside exhaust tailpipe. Any suggestion what could be wrong with it, kia don't seem to know what's wrong with it .

Chris how do you find the cooloant temp sensor ….i got a mitsubishi grandis …the fan dosent come in so it overheats idles rough and rpm fluctuates could that be the problem?
