I use a portable snow blower but I think I'll move to a portable leaf blower. Won't have to jump on the car anymore.
i use a jug of hot tap water. does the trick instantly, snow or ice

what my age and experience has taught me about snow removal from vehichles is start it crank the heat then give it time , how much for ne its when the snow/ice has melted from 3/4 wind sheild then a soft towel and wipe

One time I used a spatula it worked great took a while though
