  1. Root your phone with Dr.Fone – Android Root, which can root any Android phone with one simple click. Then you can install any apps.

  2. Hi Android Authoriy

I'm in Hong Kong and there's a payment service called Octopus. Normally, the way ppl use it by buying a card (looks just like a credit card) and when you place it on top of an octopus readers it'll read and deduct money. I believe it's NFC.

On certain phones, octopus has authorized them to emit the octopus signal and the whole phone acts as an octopus card. The information is stored in the sim card (Ie I had to buy a sim card that has embedded in it, when it's inserted in the phone, the phone can read the octopus information, display it via the octopus app and then turns the phone into an octopus). I've tried inserting this sim card is non-authorized phones that has nfc (ex: one plus) but it wouldn't work. s5 is one the authorized phones and before flashed a custom rom, it was working fine. I'm trying to get this working w a cutom rom.

Here are the steps and results after flashing XtreStoLite
    1) flashed XtreStoLite -> result: phone couldn't recognise Octopus function of the sim card
    2) installed NFC Smart Card Services of Aroma_Add-on -> result: phone will now recognise octopus sim card but will not emit signal via nfc

I would love to use a custom rom but if i can't get this function back, then i might have to go back to stock =(

    Thanks in advanced!

  3. Thank you for the info….going to your site now, but I have OLD ass phones–2 Samsung Admires, the SCH-R720, as well as the even older Freeform 2, which I cannot even upload pix from as I'm on a new PC loaded with 8.1 and need 7 or below to use the Freeform as USB Mass Storage. Even the Admires, after installing driver pkgs from Samsung, for some reason, my HP laptop does not allow me access to a removable drive, even though they are recognized as storage devices with modems. I'm not a tech geek, (utmost respect :D) as you might tell, I'm a wannabe and a total newbie, so any other recommendations would be highly appreciated…. Looking at Droid Gator and Hexamob now, as well as Lifehacker and XDA Forum…I cannot even find my model on "Unlock Samsung Guide Online" right now! I'm not LOST, exactly, simply trepidacious and perplexed….diff stories and downloads, all of which say they're the best. The GREAT news? NO SERVICE! I don't want service on these old things, I got them to serve as cameras, as well as some Social, of course, while I'm out. ALL I WANT, in other words, is to root the damn things (Admires) and uninstall ALL Metro apps, bloatware, etc. and basically CREATE a camera–one would be for video primarily (need a larger SD, I know) and the other for still Photography! I would like to have music and a few social/photo/vid apps (like FB & FB Messenger, primarily, as well as Instagram, Pinterest, etc) as well as all the editing apps I could get…a couple of silly bonuses like the rainbow glo keyboard, bright flashlight, and all the emojis would be nice, but not necessary. So, it seems what I want is both simple and yet probably somewhat advanced, esp. from where I'm at right now. I've been researching, and I'm a quick learner + a tinkerer, as you say, so, I am totally willing to do whatever, just don't wanna brick it, obviously. One Admire has such little Internal Mem I can barely d/l ANYTHING to even root the damn thing and the other has a smaller SD, but has better RAM & Internal Mem. THis is what I need help with, if anyone would like to respond! I'm still looking and researching, I know I'll figure it out, but I admit to impatience, dammit! 🙂 Anyway, my couple of BIG questions are these: 1. By backing up before rooting, that's like your contacts and PHONE settings, right? I don't need ANY of that (in fact I've manually cleared that data & force stopped, etc to improve RAM & Mem, right? SO, what of my SD? During the root process, it does NOT mess with like pictures on my SD, right? THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. Now, should I just clean the damn thing off first? Yeah, that seems logical, but lots of pics and they were taking forever as they don't simply upload, as I said, I have to send them to my email! UGH! So, onto next question….dare I even HOPE I could ROOT that damn old Freeform 2 (SCH-R360)??? I don't see how as I'm unable to get on wifi with it, nor is it compatible with my Win 8 HP! Ain't that a bitch? So PSYCHED about the others, though…and I figure with the Freeform I can somehow hook it to my ancient ass Toshiba, which still runs XP and upload pix that way, so not a HUGE deal….I just thought there may be a shortcut. Don't even know if the Freeform is running Android at all, anyway, it looks like a cheapie Blackberry from back in the day. If you could clear some of this up, you rock, otherwise, you still do, I'll be on your site and share it on my FB, etc. as I'm really researching tech now (things i never thought I'd get I'm finally wrapping my head around, and it started, really with file sharing and wanting to understand). I'm a writer, too, so, I LOVE researching new subjects and happen to be great at most science subjects, so this was the obvious next step for me! SO, thank you again in advance and I am continuing to research if you don't have the time or are not as familiar with these old dipshit phones 😀 PEACE, power, prosperity, PASSION…. <3, the Punk Pirate wannabe tech geek (already all about the freedom of info of course)

  4. that was good but if your like me who have a oneplus one then most of these are practically built in the phone and it isn't even rooted…the only reason as he just said to me is xposedModule and luckyPatcher helps a ton too!
