HTC one m7
A PenTile display at 1080p is less sharp then a traditional pixel geometry display. In Other words, the 1080p display translates into an image similar to 800p-900p. An extreme estimate will be 640p. This is my guess because I have loss confidence with the S4 display.
the HTC has a yellow tint to the whites I've had 4 replacements all of the same issue
S4 is better for watching videos,one is more ideal for browsing. imo S4 super amoled display wins

I wish there was a screen that had TRUE Blacks AND TRUE white. That would be GREAT contrast.
the htc one wins when you factor in what also will be going into the experience. the boomsound and overall feel makes it better for viewing movies

GALAXY S IV
yes, lately the make some effort at marketing, but it is a bit too little too late.
when samsung was pouring money on marketing (maybe more money than the total annual profits of htc), htc was only known to people who were searching and reading about smartphones and android in general.
i have friends who look at my One X and they ask me what brand is that, and if htc is a new brand, while they know every single model of the Galaxy series 😉
personally i like its display more (i never liked the oversatturated colors of the led), i like sense UI, i like the design, i like the quality, i like that it doesnt have all this bloatware like air-gesture, the think with the front camera checking your eyes etc, i like the front speakers. but i dont own one (i have an One X at the moment, and still i like it better than S3)
but better ask the reviewers that pick it as best in comparisons, and ask the ones who voted it best smartphone of 2013.
and what does the htc one have more than the s4? or s3?
Galaxy s4 is the best…it has more features than any other phone …but I like the htc one as well for a change
i will get galaxy note 3 but i like htc one more , the problem is the htc one camera is not that good only if they perfected their camera i will buy the htc after galaxy note 3.

also, if you go to any shop with mobile phones, you will see a full display of Galaxy models in the most visible place of the shop, while the HTC models will be hidden somewhere between the rest of the phones, probably at some corner.
samsung throws tons of money in marketing, and HTC simply has no budget for that…maybe if Lenovo buys HTC as it is heard, thinks will be better (yes i am an HTC fun and owner for years)
not just One. the One X is also a totally competent phone, and was equally good compared to S3 when it came out last year. it didn't sell only because of bad marketing…
well, HTC One has been voted as the best smartphone of 2013…
while S2-S3 were good phones, the S4 has fallen behind the competition and offers nothing new

pentile is a shit, that samsung made because is cheap. You can calibrate the configuration of the colors…but Samsung should calibrate this from factory.

People will slag off the htc one based on older htc phones. Let me just say this one little thing before you go slagging off a *beautifully* powerful phone. This phone is from a different family lol it's adopted it's nothing like the old htc's. It's fast, it's clear (clearer than s4), it's colourful but not over the top colourful… But best of all its a htc one !!! It feels like a more exclusive smartphone to own.
