  1. what? so because some unknown professor says it is not happening it means they are not listening… really?

  2. They are one hundred percent listening. My wife and I were having a conversation, (IN PERSON), about things we'd like to have in our dream home one day. I brought up how I'd like to have some old vintage arcade games. She brought up pinball machines. Literally five minutes later ads for BOTH were on my Facebook page. How is that possible unless they are listening? I've never googled it before, had never even thought about it until that conversation. Yet, somehow the ads were there FIVE minutes later. I googled it and there are tons of people that have experienced this exact same thing. Needless to say I Immediately deleted the app.

  3. Moto X, fine. Cortana, fine. Siri, fine. Amazon echo, fine. My first personal cell phone in 2005 which had hands-free audio activated services, fine. The government, fine. The enemy's government, fine. Space aliens, fine. Lizard people from the 5th dimension, fine. Facebook, NEVER!

  4. people should not always believe what these companies say, you think if they were they would actually admit it. come on now let's be smart here.

  5. "Facebook does not use your phone's microphone to inform ads or to changer what you see in News Feed." Ok, so what is it used for ? @Android Authority, you can not be sure of that.

  6. Facebook can somehow know my parents and suggest them to me eventhough I didn't tell them anything about myself let alone my parents. Any company which give no shit about its users privacy to do that get none of my respect, so no, not even believe them one bit

  7. so your telling me to believe a company who is clearly censoring people for their speech and than lie about it. ofcourse their spying on you.

  8. When they tell you not to panic that's when you need to panic,
When they tell you don't worry we are not listening to your calls and not reading your messages, that's when you realise that they actually do.
Whoever thinks that they have privacy in their smartphones must be really ignorant

  9. why is everyone so worried about this? as if they're gonna be able to go through all the audio/chat logs, there's 7 billion people on earth and the number is increasing.

  10. They are spying and profiling home network IP addresses instead, you should leave it open for the public. Do not secure or password protect your internet wifi.

  11. Ok, listen you're getting this from FaceBook, right?!? How about getting a third subjective party to analyze the code, to verify this. You should take this off because it's like asking a murderer if he/she is innocent and if they say no you let them go. It makes not sense.

  12. The string sequence is not available on my phone, in any event if and permission that Fb asks for is not granted a warning comes up saying the app won't work properly and if you try to proceed the app takes you back to the permission screen so something is bogus about this whole claim by FB. they spy as hell..

  13. If you seriously believe that the every day programs/apps in your phone aren't able to listen to your phone then you are dumb.

  14. So the evidence that they aren't recording is that FB made a statement saying that they don't? That is hardly enough. The US gov said they don't mass spy and we all know how that turned out with Mr. Snowden.

  15. Facebook is like more a place for mems or videos hub…. Literally no one updates their status any more lol

  16. It's funny that people get mad about this, but then they are comfortable with Google listening actively to whatever they do.

Yes, Google listens all the time through your microphone. They need to do that so the Google app is launched when you say "Ok, Google."

It's disgusting how Microsoft, Google and Facebook are just mining information without permission and selling it to God-knows-who. It's disgusting how everyone is ok with it as long as they provide a shiny app.

  17. Its been a little more than a year since i removed Facebook and Messenger and started using SWIPE instead. It kills the phone speed of any phone thats reason enough to remove both the apps.

  18. Conspiracy theories. Just disable if you don't want them to listen in its simple. It's all for their marketing anyways not a cunning ploy to gain all your personal data.
