Phil gives wireless printing a go with an HP printer, a Nexus 5 Android smartphone, and Android 4.4 KitKat. The framework to print from your phone has been built into Android 4.4, and it should automatically download any necessary drivers without needing your input. You’ve got access to a few apps like drive, and you can print from either the document itself or from the list of documents in Google Drive. Everything you print will let you save it as a .pdf, which is super handy. From the print menu you can choose to print in color, and select the number of copies, along with selecting which device you are printing from, and which printer to use. Once the printing has started, you’ll get a notification which lets you know that the printer is working on it. It’s a quick and easy way to print what you need, when you need it.

To me it seems like the nexus 5 would be the perfect student phone. Being able to access my drive account in class while we're all printing and just printing seems like it will be very usefull

It doesn't have to be a wirless printer, I've got an old Brother usb laser printer, just set it up in Chrome Cloud Print, on a desktop pc, and away you go.

Wireless, and on the same network?
HP printers had their own app and it was working fine but it is cool to see the feature integrated into the OS. Cool
htc one can print without the new 4.4 update

Linux already has support for Apple's zero-conf standard through Avahi, so there's no reason to not support Bonjour printing in Android and Chrome OS.

Google should include support for Bonjour in Android, that would allow it to print to most printers on the market without messy configuration. If you're printing to a network printer with your Mac, you're probably using it.
Bonjour is something Apple cooked up in the early 00s, it's free and open-source under the Apache license. No reason for Google not to!
