  1. Nice video, thanks! I've just published my unboxing video for the Ricoh Theta S on my own channel. Will you check it out? I also have many more tips to make great 360 videos!

  2. How bad is the warping on this? Also if I want to host the video on my site without YouTube ect, will I have to stitch the file myself?

  3. Would have liked to see more of the final image or video as what would be intended to be shown on YouTube, etc….

4. I've had one for about a month and really like it! Paid $345 USD for it. Takes excellent stills and video BUT the Theta app for Windows hasn't been updated since 2013 (first gen) and seems to knock back the HD source image to SD. Also very limited range of posting and sharing options. Video and stills both look amazing in Google Cardboard viewers. And that's 25 minutes of video at 1080p – at 720p it's 160 minutes.

  5. interesting finding "Another opinion, based on the authority of a University professor in Japanese, says that you are all a little incorrect, at least in terms of how it is pronounced in Japan.

First, it is a name arrived at by shortening several long Japanese words, to produce the word 'Ricoh'. But it is pronounced here as a Japanese word, and the first 'i' sound is short, and pronounced as the 'i' in 'rickets', or more appropriately, 'rickshaw'.

The 'oh' is a foreign language substitute for the Japanese extended vowel sound, so it is pronounced as a long 'o' sound, as in 'ooh', which is why it is spelled that way. Actually the two 'o' sounds in Tokyo are pronounced the same way.

Finally, there is no 'r' sound in Japanese, so the first sound is a kind of combination 'r' and 'd' sound. As when you pronounce the Japanese word for six, 'roku'. When you pronounce the 'r' sound, the tongue just flicks the roof of the mouth, to make a kind of combination r and d sound.

But it is certainly not pronounced 'Reeko', as the first vowel sound is a very short 'i' sound. It actually sounds more like drikoh, with the strange (difficult for English speakers) first sound, and the long 'o' sound of Japanese, something like when we say' oh', as in 'Oh, like that'.

How you pronounce it in English though, is up to you. There are traps and difficulties for English speakers of Japanese, just like 'r' and 'l' difficulties of Japanese speakers of English.
