The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is the smallest of the three new Xperia Z5 devices. I got my hands on one a few days ago and I have been testing it to see if it will help Sony lift its mobile division out of the doldrums. Let’s see what I found out.

  1. i never had a problem with the camera. Sure a lot of cameras struggle in low light but with less light you have less chances to get a good photo. If anything when I take a photo for anyone it amazes them how good the camera is. Most people I know have Samsung phones with 12 MP cameras or even budget phones that have 5 or 8 MP cameras. If anything they are blown away by the detail it can capture. More megapixels is good too because you have a better chance to zoom in for a closer look at something without the picture becoming blurry. One thing to keep in mind with these is when viewing a photo taken with it or a similar camera wait a couple seconds for it to decompress. If you look closely you will notice the picture becoming sharper, especially with anything that has a lot of detail. Many photos I take are 8 or 10 megabytes or more unedited or unaltered and if you have a Sony phone you may have noticed that too.

  2. I bought this phone this week and It will arrive next week. I wanted a smaller phone with good battery life. The camera is a bonus. A smaller screen should give me a very long standby battery life. The right-angle corners are a concern as they will probably put a square wear mark on my front jeans' pockets. Matt grey is nice as it matches my ThinkPad. I remember a similar phone was used in one of the James Bond movies a few years ago. It is more convenient and professional-looking to use a smaller phone. It only has Android 7.1. I was also considering a Google Pixel 1 to get Android 10 but Z5 seems like better overall phone.

  3. What an underestimated phone the z5 compact is!
Amazing phone, I still use it. Fell from a running tuk tuk on the road but surprisingly everything functions as new! Sony makes excellent phones.
I m happy to pay a little premium and have better durability.

  4. Too bad about the camera…… im going to get one of these phones soon, i hoped the camera would be very good….. but it still seems pretty good! this phone in general seems better then my iPhone 6!🙂🤩

  5. i have a z5 compact and last week i orderd some headset to my self with a 3.5 jack and acording to the specs i can have it but when i look on the phone there is a hole but it allso looks like a flashlight in there so i am a bit confused atm so any one got some idés about this and btw the phone is about 3 years old so i dont have any garanty left or so and i dont remeber were from i orderd it.

  6. After just over a year my Z1 compact has all sort of software issues crashing, including the home and default phone and messaging apps crashing. A restore worked for one day. I cleared cache and all. Disappointed with the reliability. Is the Z5 compact a good phone long term? Everyone is down talking the Xperia X compact and says go Z5 compact. Which is the better buy?
