Bought a Poco X3 after my OP5T got stolen

I'd be happy to buy a mid range phone when I next upgrade, that said I like compact phones so choices are limited.
well that's because 6-7 years ago flagship cost 300-400 USD. now everyone jumping into iSheep train and slap 1000+ USD price tag.
My current and previous phone are Flagships but my next phone will definitely be another Midrange phone, most likely the Pixel 5a. I don't need crazy amount of power, I don't need 5 or 6 cameras, I don't need over 200 GB of storage, and having high refresh rates are nice but not mandatory. Value is something I want now and even in the U.S it's become decent.
Mi 10T comes with sd 865, wifi 6, lpddr5 ram, ufs 3.1, 144Hz display at price of 400$.So we already have killer specs at mid range price.
Using my 1.4 year old realme 5 pro it has Snapdragon 712 which was the latest 700 series of its time it has 20 watt vooc charge which fills the device 0-100 in 1 hour and 20 mins and a decent 4000 mah battery like this all for 200$ it's not even like android updates are bad my phone came with Android 9 got android 10 in 2020 march and android 11 is scheduled for Q2 this year
Flagship. I've had the original Galaxy S, S3, S5, S7, S8 Plus, S9 Plus, Note 9 and currently the S20 Plus. I'll probably wait until 2022 to upgrade though given the asshat in the White House and his penchant for killing our economy.

Majority of the people don't need the performance of a chip higher than that of the Snapdragon 845. That is why the 730G and 765G is good enough for 90% of the people.
Yes. I'm using Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro as my phone after using Asus Zenfone 3 for three years. A midrange phone is more than enough for me.
"Future proofing" is the biggest lie about the smartphone.
I always stick to the formula of buying a more expensive phone and using it for as many years as possible. IMO a flagship chip is still going to be a major factor for longevity. But buying a phone for a price of a pretty sweet PC is just not worth it. That's why I bought a Poco f2 Pro – a flagship chip set in a premium-built midrange package. Very happy with it, hoping it will serve me for 3 or more years.
Hello from Brasil! I have never used a mid range smartphone, and have been using Iphone since the smartphoe came into the world, but I am consdering moving to Android a couple of years ago. Didn´t make the transition yet because people keep saying I will have trouble and a lot of my stuff won´t tranfer to the other mobile.
I would by a mid range beacause of the price-benefit relation they have and truth be told we don´t use half of the specs flagships have. Would like to have a Google phone but they don´t sell here, would have to import.

Can anyone explain why premium mid-rangers don't use old 800 series chips and instead give 700 series chips ?

Yeah well stupid phone company salesmen making this advertisement, these "good" mid-range phones would only last a year before being outdated by the next mid-range phone in the lineup. Then people would buy the next mid-range phone. This is bullshit. Capitalism is bullshit at its finest.
I have never owned a flagship phone and somehow my life has been just fine.
In fact, no smartphone is worth over $300 unless you're using it to make money.
I mean, I'm still using my J7 Pro from 2017.
My 2-year-old mid-ranger does everything that I need and more. Yes, I do wish that cameras were better but other than that…

Bruh ain't nobody (your AVERAGE CONSUMER that is), trying to drop $1199 for a Note 20/S20 or wtf ever Samsungs new flagship is… Or for an iPhone12. I'm gettin a solid midrange or if I want iPhone, I'd get the $399 SE (Same internals as iPhone11).
I REFUSE to spend over $500 ever again on a phone.
Don't miss the flagship at all been using midrange phones all year and have zero problems with them. In fact I get better battery life and I'm not terrified of dropping or losing it. So yeah, midrange for me from now on.
I bought a Pixel 4a at launch. Probably not going back to high end phones. At some point I'll get a 5g phone but a mid ranger.
