I hate to rant, but I stopped listening after about 18 mins or so… My guess is their commentary is exclusively for
Android Wear. One of the earliest comments laments the fact his smartwatch cannot send/create text msgs without having to speak the message. For those of us with the Gear S, we know that composing a msg or replying to one without speech is very possible. Again, I stopped listening and will not pass judgement because I cannot imagine they purposefully overlooked the Gear S. Even though they are allegedly talking about the smart watch universe. If they mentioned the Gear S, great, I guess…
I believe that the smart watch ecosystem is only for the really busy personnel. I'm a service member and I don't know how many times I have lost a notification because of the work I do. I'm in meetings and always doing work with people. Its nice to look at my watch and see if I really I need to tend to the situation on my phone. I also suffer from the awesome phantom vibration. This device keeps me on track. I don't see the need for a speaker for the next wave of smart watches because if people are already feeling awkward using the "OK Google" feature why would the speaker be any different. If there was a WiFi feature where your device can pick up information quickly and efficiently.
I think that Wearables would really grow if there was smartglasses that work with prescription lenses. There are people who already have to wear glasses, having it be an extension of you computing platforms can really enhance the wearable concept.
I've downloaded stitcher for the first time just to lisren to you guys and i was surprised by how bad the sound quality was, just messy and noisy so i completed the podcast from YouTube because it's much more better.
Can even put a sim on it and use as a phone

I have a zgpax s5 their is apps u can download to text on ur phone expandable up to 32 gb can get a 700 mah battery for it and if rooted and download a new home it looks like android 4.0 lollipop which is the operating system have had it for about a year can watch movies and even netflix not waterproof but pretty cool
Currently own a Moto 360, my previous watch was a Pulsar Kinetic Watch (Don't remember the model), was quite skeptical about getting a smartwatch that had to be charged over the course of just over one day. Although reading and watching reviews and comments about battery life problems, it hasn't been bad in practice. I hope these manufacturing companies will continue improving the efficiency of the battery and also app developers' efficiency in coding.

My last watch was an original TI digital watch given to me as part of a team participating in its manufacture in 1977. So I guess I'm not a watch person. I've considered a moto 360 for its look and feel. I drive a lot for work in a company car so a cell phone dock is not practical. My work S5 is way too difficult to handle while driving and I really need to get notifications and email subject lines so I don't miss what is going on as it happens. From what I've heard Android Ware may meet my needs. My fear is battery life and the moto 360's older hardware.
At it's price I'm having a hard time making the leap..

Why are you guys talking about the apple watch?? Isn't this supposed to be Android-related?? I own the GWR and chose it over the 360 because of the OLED screen and bigger battery. It does have a bigger bezel and not as clean looking as the 360, but the old processor, small battery and lack of 'always on' ability for the 360 was a deal breaker for me https://imgur.com/a/hJNMT

There is a way to put a keyboard for texting on an Android Wear device. It's called 1C SMS Sender
Younger experts of Google gives their own opinion and thoughts on Smartwatches / Wearables , yes they r very open in their own opinion , but one thing they couldn't denied, apart from one Empire, an other worlds of Google has it's own worth -:)) be a lover of Android , give our eastern vision an extra strength with HTC, Samsung , T9 , nd more . We eastern have not enough money power , but with Google we can dream for more freedom for us , it's depends on our vision , so my all loving friends keep listening , get connected with the news of Google -:))
Question for Joe Hindy (and most of the team), what void did the tablet fill, as it has been selling very well for the last few years? Particularly in light of the fact that the tablet market is in decline.
The consumer electronics lost vision since SJ departed. Companies are locked in a specs war to gain market share and not interested in adding value to the consumers. "Wearables" are just an extension of this effort with their current angle of the platform.
Wearables should be disposable. Meaning cheap. Why do you need a screen? Give me lights for notifications and extend the battery to 1-2weeks.
The biggest benefit at this point is if I have my "bracelet" on, I want to auto unlock my phone when I pick it up. And auto lock when I put it down. Then extrapolate to the smart home. The smart car. These are the real opportunities for a smart "watch"
wanting more features (i.e. "a smartphone on your wrist") seem contrary to wanting more simplicity.
using your smartwatch while driving (as they are today) is just as bad as using your smartphone while driving, cars need a completely hands-free solution.
Wants more features… Wants them to be smaller… Wants better battery life… ok

Bloody hell I wish they'd show there faces Cus on Mobile its boring as
Dream wearables. Some pair of glasses or easy to use contact lens that will show me what I want and need. Stereo in-ears for enjoying music (or talking heads) and making or taking phone calls. Finally a wrist watch that can change it's theme/color based on whatever. Great show and topic love you guys.

I've had a Pebble for a year now. I love the functionality and the comments I get from people. I know it's not indispensable, but the added perks did make it worth it.
Before the Pebble I wasn't much of a watch person, but I can't see my life without one now.
I have a Moto 360 and I wear it every day. With android wear still in its early phases, there aren't too many uses, but I see more coming in the future. As of early 2015, smartwatches are more if a novelty to most people. I find them useful and convenient, and mine makes it through a full work day on a full charge. To me, battery isn't an issue, so a smartwatch is a huge upgrade from a regular watch. With the apple watch coming out later this year, I see apple's many followers and finatics going for it. Smartwatches might be a novelty right now, but in the next few years they will advance and draw in more and more people, wether it be an android wear watch, or an apple watch.
