Letter to the Tacoma Police Department: Holding police officers accountable for unwarranted acts of violence and mistreatment toward those in their care, custody and control is long overdue in this country. I'm 66-years-old and so thankful to see you are finally being charged for your mis-deeds. Who ever decided you were exempt in the first place? It sickens and disgusts me to think how many lives your rogue public servants have taken away without being held accountable by inflicting heavy-handed abuse upon the innocent, and in particular it seems, persons of color. Your defiant, cavalier, and hubris response to these charges is deplorable and reprehensible; why on earth would you support and protect individuals in your ranks displaying such horrific behavior? I can only surmise that you do so because either you encourage it and/or because you've been able to get away with it for so long. Wake up Tacoma PD! This is the 21st century and we're not going to take it anymore! Until you begin condemning this type of behavior you do nothing to alleviate future pain and suffering and certainly do not uphold the code, "to protect and serve".
