Because of their height, redwoods draw moisture directly from the Sea Air. This helps retain moisture for the area rather than have it all blow over California and into the interior of the country, which causes draught and forest fires.
It is about time. The Native Americans were, uh, Native Americans. They lived here first. Wonder if some of us 🇺🇸 problems are karma from the way we treated them. They saved the pilgrims, but then Manifest Domain was about taking what we wanted.

This comment is regarding the comment about clear cutting of the forests, it is better to do selective cutting, this way it will open up the forest canopy and allow sunlight to the forest floor to allow new growth.
