  6. Now, who was responsible for this tragedy; this affront to American democracy? The answer is obvious: Donald J. Trump who insisted the election was rigged and that he was deprived of a second term. There was never a shred of evidence that substantiated these claims. He tried to intimidate officials. There were endless hateful tweets and in a desperate ploy, he directed the Vice President to change the results of the electoral college. All of these attempts failed. On Jan. 6, the unhinged President encouraged his supporters to march onto the Capitol and overturn the election. The result was death and destruction.
