what do we say to the Jews that preceded the European Jews the African Hebrews/Jews and the Arab jjews… they are a different ethnicity then those European Jews does it mean that they’re less Jew because they’re not white?
I don’t think it’s fair to say that because she said the understanding that we all have a bout ethnicity/race not sitting this narrative that she was trying to trivialize what Jews went through I can convert to Judaism tomorrow but I would still be black European Jews who are the ones who went to the holocaust they could turn into a Christian tomorrow and they would no longer be Jews because there is no genetic marker for Judaism there is a genetic marker for a particular gene that some of them carry because it’s sad that Jews that come from certain areas tend to be related because they lived in small communities and they married relatives. but that is not a genetic marker for ethnicity.
so she said nothing insensitive she said what we all understand biologically that me as a black person if I was to be against another black person‘s religion that I wouldn’t be being racist I would be being discriminative but that discrimination doesn’t automatically equal racism is racism is it involved.
