I do not think the government is alarmed at all. At least not the right people or agencies.
There is too much to disclose and this is not the forum to do so. However here are just a few points.
Several of the federal agencies had been put on notice about security issues years ago, such as FCC, FAA, Homeland Security, several Senaters as well as the media. These warnings fell upon death ears, to this day. So, there is plenty of blame to go around.
There are so many areas of weakness it is ashame. From the biggest issues being the phone companies. First, these companies staff the regulators with their own people, or the staff working for the agencies know if they "go along to get along" , there is a lucrative job waiting for them in the private sector.
These agencies give these phone companies guidelines without any enforcemet teeth. Case in point, the phone companies are suppose to protect the nation's 911 anf FAA services. But there is little to no agency oversite of the mandates put forth. Rather, these mandates are on the honor system. Who in their right mind thinks corporations are going to do the right thing when there is a choice between security verses placing money on infrastructure that has a return on investment on the table, or bonuses for the top executives.
The next issue with phone companies is, most of their central offices are for the most part unprotected. Thus soft targets.
Many military bases, have their central office on the outside of the guard gate at the base. This alone is crazy. Then the military contracts the maintenance to the local network operator who could hire just about anybody to work in these telecom central offices. This goes without saying many such companys today, outsource their employees to get around paying benefits, of which was created by congress.
Then we wonder why our government and infrastructures are continually getting hacked.

I'm not impressed with the convicted inmate whining about HIS mistreatment. HE mistreated other people who were completely INNOCENT. He got caught, got a trial (where his every "Right" was fully protected.) Sentenced, then went into act out in prison. Getting HIMSELF put in solitary and prolonging his incarceration. Can this person EVER learn HE owns the responsibility for making bad choices? "You do the crime be prepared to do the time."
