A massive earthquake, — registering 7.0 magnitude according to the U.S. Geological Survey — rocked Anchorage, Alaska Friday, sending debris crashing to the ground, damaging buildings and causing “major infrastructure damage,” officials said.

i was in this earthquake, i was 4th grade and i was waiting at the bus stop with my friend, and i felt it rumbling stronger and stronger, 3 seconds after i yelled EARTHQUAKE!!!! and i ran home, super lucky to have no damage to my house. to be honest, i thought i was gonna die

the roll is in the plates like a wave moving through…plates are not solid mass
as it rolls it will follow the craton through north American and up the east coast

Alaska is made up of pieces of what is called Exotic Terrane. It's not a solid piece of land. All these piece jocky around due to plate tectonics. Alaska is an active earthquake zone. Pacific Plate is moving below the crust at these points. Subduction. Other places the Pacific Plate slides against the North American Plate to create a fault. San Andreas is one example. In other places a plate can develop a tear or rift. East African Rift Valley is an example. It is scary. Nothing more powerful than Mother Nature.
Its will be blamed on Trump.

I was stuck in San Francisco during the 1989 earthquake, and it was extremely scary. This was MUCH stronger, so I can imagine how loud, and frightening it must have been! 😬

Only thing nice about Anchorage was flat top and The views up there. Skiing and hiking. Now I’m in a wheelchair and can’t live in Alaska lol. Washington state now. My mother forced me to live in Anchorage but I hated it. Brown mucky most of the year and freezing. Also it sits on a sinking mudflow from old glaciers and basically the worst material to build on. Asking for total destruction in any quake. Why do people WANT to live there where it’s unsafe and gross? Why not move to Kenai or Seward and have 300 thousands there!? Or Kodiak? Kodiak is gorgeous

Earthquakes always follow the fault line….last time this happened everyone thought it would strike California next…but that was not the case…the earthquake followed into the midwest near yellowstone….the next few days will be critical…
some have eyes but they do not see what is really going on in the world and all these floods , fires and earthquakes that are happening more and more frequently and are worsening daily.
